Sorrow Verified Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I'm not sure if this was posted in one of the main threads but thought some people might enjoy it. I know that reddit tends to be a whipping boy as they're a group of the newer to baseball and bandwagon fans but who knows if a few of the OK posters over that way ask some neat questions or if some of you fine folks are interested in doing the same. http://www.reddit.com/r/torontobluejays
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Should ask him about Dean Blundell.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 whats the most controversial thing that we could ask him that he could reasonably reply to
Sorrow Verified Member Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 whats the most controversial thing that we could ask him that he could reasonably reply to I honestly don't think he'll be able to give very much detail as to goings on with the front office or players or anything. But you could probably safely ask him what's the strangest thing a player has ever done to him. Might be interesting to see some questions on what it's like being a beat reporter in the MLB world.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Hopefully we get joocy deets on the end of the SanMan bromance.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 We should start trolling that sub. The AMA would be a good time to start.
Governator Community Moderator Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Ask him his favourite Barry Davis moment.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Oof, this seems unwise. Yeah you're probably right. Would cause way too much blowback drama for the mods here. Nevermind. It's a pretty horrible forum though.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Oof, this seems unwise. Yeah let's not invite a bunch of reddit morons to these hallowed grounds

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Hi Shi, Will you miss Barry Davis? Yours truly, Everyone. SNShiDavidi • 41m I worked with Barry for a long time and he helped me when I was transitioning from print only to the multi-platform work I do now, so I am grateful to him for that. So that's a no then.

Sorrow Verified Member Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Just had a chance to look through the AMA. My biggest take aways are that Shapiro sees the team in the Roger's Center for another 25-30 years. They're doing construction on it now and have a design firm looking at what upgrades can be done to increase fan experience, they're looking to move away from bowl seating towards more seats facing home plate.

Location doesn't get any better and the RC isn't beyond repair. I don't blame them for staying right where they are.

As one who attends the majority of games at Rogers Centre year in and year out, my view of Shapiro's ultimate Blue Jays legacy goes beyond the number of flags that go up during his presidency, but also certainly will be shaped by how he turns this multi-purpose (almost 30 years old) stadium into a better ballpark for baseball fans. And, I'm optimistic given his experience with renovations at Progressive Field.
