Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 It would be pretty cool to see f***ing Jimmy Nelson win it. Right now, I'd say it's gotta be between Grienke, Scherzer, Strasburg and Nelson. I'd probably give it to Mad Max right now but it's a pretty tight race. In the AL, it should be just between Kluber and Sale, and they are close enough that I think either one could win and I'd have zero issues. I kinda feel like it's Kershaw's to lose in the NL. He leads in ERA, Wins, and for saber voters (if there are any) xFIP. It's really just innings and K's that he's behind on. Scherzer and Grienke are both having great seasons and deserve some recognition, but imo Kershaw has just been too good. The AL race is much more interesting. It probably SHOULD go to Kluber, but both really do deserve it.

I was at the game so now I can say I witnessed history! lol
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 It's not just the top 10 home run numbers that are up either even though Stanton is going crazy The reason seems to be way more guys hitting 10-20 than ever before
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Maybe I just missed it during the Indians streak, but how did Deck McGuire's debut not draw more buzz around here. His 0.1 career WAR has him ahead of 31 of the 50 players drafted in the first round that year. Averaging 93.4 MPH as a reliever after a pretty good season in AA this year.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Labrum surgery for Jimmer Nelson, and he'll miss time in 2018
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Renfroe sure had himself a day. 3 home runs, two of them against Ray.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 And in other news, Raul Mondesi (the one that played for us) was sentenced to 8 years in prison and $1.27 million for corruption while serving as his town's mayor. I guess that career $66 million he made just doesn't go as far anymore ...

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Red Sox shut out the Orioles in that game and The Angels lost, and the Red Sox clinch a playoff spot Kluber and Sale have been phenomenal, I really miss having an automatic Ace like that. I wonder who gets the Cy Young nod?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 I'm starting to feel bad for Tyler Glasnow. He scraped the full windup after being sent down to AAA and the results were magical. Dropped his BB% and tore up AAA. Gets called back up and he allows 10 walks in like 3 innings. Time will tell if this guy will ever put it together.

They're way out of the race, he has one bad start after being called up, and they immediately shift him to the pen? Talk about destroying his confidence. They should be running him out there the rest of the season to iron him out for next year.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 After his known struggles in July/August, Judge has posted a wRC+ of 176 in September. His K% and BB% are much improved and he's basically the hitter we saw from March to the All-Star break. Was his shoulder the issue? Did pitchers adjust and he's countered with another adjustment? It is just baseball's natural hot/cold swings?
