Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Could the Phillies finally be decent again next year? C - Rupp, Knapp, and Alfaro - should be able to piece something palatable together from these three. Knapp is a sleeper prospect and Alfaro has upside. 1B - Rhys Hoskins - total stud, apparently 2B - Cesar Hernandez - comfortably above average player SS - Freddy Galvis - surprisingly average regular 3B - Maikel Franco - awful 2017 but he held his own before as a 22 and 23 year old; Mike Moustakas upside INF - Scott Kingery - one of baseball's most compelling fringe prospects INF - JP Crawford - probably more likely to start than Franco, could even steal SS job, very high upside, might have figured it out late this year. CF - Odubel Herrera - solid above average regular RF - Nick Williams - obvious bust candidate but he's doing fine so far LF - Aaron Altherr - really stupid name but he might be an average regular OF - Roman Quinn and Dylan Cozens in AAA SP - Nola, Velasquez, Eickhoff, Pivetta, Lively, Leiter Jr., Thompson... Eshelman, Appel, Kilome. - I recognize these names! BP - league average this year. They have some guys. If you consider mediocrity, decent.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 The Indians are in trouble! The streak is on life support.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 The Indians are in trouble! The streak is on life support. Base hit for Naquin with 1 out. Francisco Mejia now into the game to PH for Gomes. Edit: Fielder's choice, Naquin out at second. Lindor up with two outs. Edit: Lindor RBI double off the wall, just out of the reach of the outstretched glove of Alex Gordon. Tie game!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Lol, life support was successful. Unreal.
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Ridiculous lol. I just want a teaspoon of their koolaid.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Lindor is so f***ing good.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 I feel like it's worth mentioning that Tommy Pham is most likely really good at baseball. He hit a donger and stole two bags today to become a member of the 20/20 club. Altuve, Betts, Andrus, and Trout are the only other members so far this season. 147 wRC+ and 4.9 WAR through 463 PA.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Indians win! 22 in a row, holy s***. So Jose Ramirez led off the bottom of the 10th by stretching a single into a double, then Edwin walked. Jay Bruce then smacked a walk-off hit down the RF line to score Ramirez and win the game.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Congrats to the Indians!

I dropped him this year in LoD, and now I hate him.

You aren't the only one (not sure when the last time I dropped him was, but I think I've owned him multiple times there). Hopefully it'll teach me to hold onto Mahtook this time (and Powell).
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 I dropped him this year in LoD, and now I hate him. This seems reasonable. I'd probably hate him too. Apparently he's the 9th best hitter in LoD this season.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Jesus Christ shut up Sorry, bro. I just thought you'd want to know that he's right between Harper and Judge in the rankings. That's a pretty meaty sandwich, heh.

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Who'd you pick up? Carlos Correa?? Picked up Kirk Nieuwenhuis and didn't want to cut Edmundo Sosa from my farm to make room for Pham. The League of Despair is aptly named.

BTS Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 I'd rather have 200 stolen bases than 200 homeruns. The sabermetricians, they don't agree wit that though - Hawk Harrelson
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Billy Hamilton's 50+ SB > Stantons 50+ Homers
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Taking a bunch of White Sox players against Boyd sure hasn't worked out well today lol. He's 5 outs away.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Lol, that last out is always the one that gets you!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 I wonder what happened to those dudes that used to dress up as umps and sit behind home plate? Random musing of the day ...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Michael Taylor just covered like 100 feet in a flash but unfortunately he botched the catch once he actually got there. Went from a great play to one that looks bad on the surface.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 He dropped a ball that was in his glove without reaching for it.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 A paid ESPN broadcaster just said the ump shouldnt have called a strike a strike...because its to hard to hit
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 So while it seemed a month ago Sale was a lock for Cy Young I think Kluber is the favourite right now. In the 2nd half Kluber is 10-1 1.92 ERA 2.31 xFIP 98IP 11.81 K/9 0.92 BB/9

NL should be interested. Kershaw leads all those categories, but has missed time. Crazy to see Estrada is tied for the 28th best qualified starting pitcher in the majors (by WAR) this year. Tied with Mike Leake, who as basically just given away to anyone who would take his contract.

Right now, I'd say it's gotta be between Grienke, Scherzer, Strasburg and Nelson. I'd probably give it to Mad Max right now but it's a pretty tight race. In the AL, it should be just between Kluber and Sale, and they are close enough that I think either one could win and I'd have zero issues.

No offense, but a pitcher who's 12-6 with an ERA of 3.49 with 175 innings pitched doesn't deserve consideration. Kershaw is 17-3 with an ERA of 2.12. It looks like him and Grienke will battle it out, while the 2 Washington pitchers cancel each other out. Kershaw at 20-3 with an ERA in the low 2's in only 27 starts would be impressive.
