jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 What a collision there by Rickie Weeks and Brett Gardner.. and it's all Weeks and Kevin Cash's fault.. he's a 2nd baseman/outfielder, not a 1B...regardless, it could be a blow to the Rays, especially considering Gillaspie isn't MLB ready and LoMo is a platoon bat at best.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Should also point out that an error by X. Cedeno didn't help.. Yanks now lead 6-3. Why is it they play so well at the Trop and yet are getting destroyed at Yankee Stadium? Adjustments?
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Ausmus doesn't seem particularly interested in using Joe Jimenez. For a team with chronic bullpen issues, they're really fighting off help every step of the way.

He's probably their best reliever just by default.

Effit Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Yanks not having any problems with the Rays.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 John "Trial by Fire" Gibbons probably would have used him in all three! Shockingly, the Tigers bullpen is even worse than the Jays. At least we have ONE good reliever.

He used Ryan in the 7th today, then had Alex Wilson throw almost 40 pitches to finish the last two innings. With KRod unavailable, there was no reason not to give the kid the 7th today.

Gillaspie is probably ready enough. Ideally he'd get 1/2 season more in AAA first, but he has spent ~1/2 year there already with very good results. He's probably an upgrade right now, straight up.

The Rays can't afford to burn any service time on legit prospects and they won't want to make him a Super 2 guy. I'd be very surprised if they called him up this early.

Maybe they'd like some Smoak in their lives for a little while
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 Why is Matheny not removing Leake here? 2 on, 2 out, 7th inning and a 3-run lead.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 doesn't matter, still 1-6 Rangers are 2-5 so not much better, and it's mostly the fault of that weasel.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Apparently the Tigers are converting Gose into a pitcher. Not sure if that was posted before and I missed it or not.

King Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 PHILADELPHIA — Even with centerfielder Juan Lagares just days away from returning to action, Mets officials are thinking about keeping a spot on the bench for Michael Conforto, who started for just the second time this season in Wednesday’s series finale against the Phillies.

Brett Cecil (off to a poor start this season BTW) almost gives up a bases clearing XBH to Bryce Harper but the perfectly positioned 3B saves the day http://m.mlb.com/news/article/223931490/cardinals-brett-cecil-retires-bryce-harper/?game_pk=490227

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Yankees prospect James Kaprielian will indeed go under the knife, TJS scheduled for next week. Poor kid, hopefully he comes back healthy.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Relief pitcher and pinch runner from a bullpen spot Nice Is that the plan? Wow that would be pretty neat. And emergency help in the OF. They could go with an 8-man bullpen pretty easily in this event.
