You could have him rotate with Pearce. Basically when Stroman and Sanchez start have Pearce play 1st (since he's really good there) and when Estrada and Happ pitch have Pearce play the OF and JB at 1st.

 

Even with the terrible defense Jose can very well be a 3 win player next year.

I'm fine with Jose and his s***** defence and now garbage arm in left if we can find a good right fielder.

Any ideas on any right fielders that might be available, and not Jay Bruce, I mean someone who can play defence.

Possibly, but not likely. An outfielder who can actually play in the outfield regularly is needed, and left handed. Moss outside of a trade has to be the best option right now.

Had a wRC+ of 114 with a .236 BABIP vs RHP. Thats fantastic. He might strike out a lot but only 23% GB so he does damage when he does makes contact.

Forget about Saunders, he's done IMO. I'd rather give Pompey playing time over Saunders at this point.

I think he also had a wRC+ in the 140 range in high leverage situations.

I'm probably not as confident in the defence as you but I think the bat makes up for it. He should rake vs RHP.

You'll literally need to smash Morales' knees with a bat and end his career in order for Bautista to fit. Bautista as the regular first baseman is a possibility, but that would mean Pearce would be an outfield regular. The line up diversity was already crippled with the Morales signing.

I mean, I knew Bautista never liked the management, but this is business. I'm sure when it comes down to it, he'll choose money over management he doesn't like.

 

It wasn't long ago that Bautista's agent was going around saying he'd be very interested in returning to Toronto. Plus he's running out of options now. Yankees, Astros, Red Sox, Mets, all seemed to have filled their needs. Give him a good enough offer and I guarantee you he'll look past the "s***** management" he doesn't like.

I don't understand why you're looking at it that way. The offense was good last year. They had a lot of good hitters that strike out a lot. The offense was fine, and those hitters are maximizing their skills in the best way they can. If you can improve the offense, you do it. That could come via a 5% K guy or a 30% K guy. Is the team tangibly better off with Nori Aoki than with Brandon Moss? Not likely.
