Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 You all got your asses handed to you regarding Goins for two and a half seasons and you all know it. Pillar was looking great for the first two months of the season, but then he turned back into Kevin Pillar. I was totally wrong regarding Biagini. The Goins success story alone should have you guys sucking your own dicks for another decade. What Goins success story?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Stroman 3 main reasons - Talent is a lot closer than people think (edge Sanchez) - Sanchez' arm is going to blow up at some point - Sanchez has more trade value right now and it's not close Wow what a f***ing moron!

I'm not so sure you should be patting yourself on the back too hard for that one all things considered.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 What Goins success story? lol... he's still delusional, f***ing coach, man.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 What Goins success story? The story where you all thought he wouldn't last six weeks in the show. He was a big part of 15 and 16 seasons, stop pretending he wasn't.

Take a look at his 2016 numbers and tell me if you still think that's a guy that was a big part of a team: https://www.fangraphs.com/players/ryan-goins/9807/stats?position=2B/SS I see a guy that put up a 39!!! WRC+, and managed to be worth an impressive -0.8 WAR in only 196 AB. If both Devon Travis and Tulo weren't made of glass he would have received very few at bats if he still manged to stick with the team

IIRC Gruber never said he was going to be a star. He said he was going to stick. And he did. How he did it is not relevant. Anyone could have seen the Jays paper thin MIF situation and surmise that Goins had a chance to stick around and suck. This forum has a moving goal post against Gruber because he's an angry lunatic most of the time and people just don't like him. But in this instance he looks correct to me. Bringing up a 4 year old grudge over a scrub player is just so lame. Can you people not just admit he's right and move on? It's not like lightning is going to hit you tonight for doing so.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 What would be the fun of that? Jim I know that you're on the deserved receiving end of scorn a lot so this is new (and apparently fun) territory for you. But not everyone gets the same level of enjoyment. For instance, I much prefer being the contrarian. The Houston Astros and gruber92 will be baseball's heroes in 2020.

I believe a mid-winter lightning storm will occur, and strike me, if I do so.
