Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Actually Pillar is off to a horrible start by every means. Hope this helps. But he has a BATING AVRIDGE that isn't so bad. Isn't that the only offensive category?

King Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 If you had to choose one or the other, who would you keep moving forward? King is doing his best to be voted dumbest poster of the year. Stroman projects as a career reliever. Sanchez and it isn't even close. AA should have pulled the trigger on the Carasco for Stroman trade. Another idiotic thread. Maybe we should start another called 'Travis or Goins'. Time for your first thread deletion Governator. http://i.imgur.com/Qi2rJtL.png

I picked Stro to be our player of the year.Doesnt that count.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Hey! I picked Stro to be our player of the year.Doesnt that count. No. You should have known it was going to be Justin Smoak. Duh. Obvious is obvious.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Gruber just racking up the L's this year: - Goins sitting at -0.7 fWAR - Kevin Pillar still can't hit and took a step back defensively - Stroman looking like a reliable 3-4 win pitcher - Biagini pitching to a 5.6 ERA as a starter, and certainly not better than Stroman
polar bear Verified Member Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 No. You should have known it was going to be Justin Smoak. Duh. Obvious is obvious. Still think it will be Stro, and anyway I did pick him rather than Sanchez.

bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 what was the context of so many people voting Sanchez at the time? I cant recall to be honest why i voted stroman, but looking back on it, it seems rather obvious
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 for me, it was Sanchez durability concern for voting for Stro. Sanchez has missed time every year

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 King is this True? Or are we all humanary stew unless we pledge aligence to the Black Widow? Hahaha... I miss BBBB!
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 what was the context of so many people voting Sanchez at the time? I cant recall to be honest why i voted stroman, but looking back on it, it seems rather obvious This thread wasn't which one you would pick for just this season. There's every chance Sanchez has the better career. Last year: Sanchez = 3.9 WAR, 3.55 FIP and the AL leader in ERA (3.00); Stroman = 3.6 WAR, 3.72 FIP, 4,37 ERA. We should just be grateful that we've got two young controllable starters who when injury free can be borderline aces.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I just wish Stro would stop being such a douchebag. His antics today and interview after regarding him not getting selected to the all-star game was embarrassing.

Keep up with the season is over attitude. We need this. This board is the perfect contrarian indicator. A summary of a few points off the top of my head: Goins will not stick - 2013 Saunders for Happ - great trade Estrada for Lind - could have done better Stroman is better than Sanchez - March 2016 Sanchez is better than Stroman - March 2017 Smoak sucks why the contract extension Grilli what a great pickup he's the anchor to the BP for the next season - August 2016 This team sucks time to sell - May 2015 This team sucks time to sell - May 2016 This team sucks time to sell - April 2017 I see a nice long winning streak coming up. You f***s are gonna jinx Stroman again if you keep this up.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Gruber just racking up the L's this year: - Goins sitting at -0.7 fWAR - Kevin Pillar still can't hit and took a step back defensively - Stroman looking like a reliable 3-4 win pitcher - Biagini pitching to a 5.6 ERA as a starter, and certainly not better than Stroman - Goins has stuck for four years now - Pillar has plenty of time to get to a .770 OPS (currently .724) - Stroman has looked good lately, hope he keeps it up - Biagini FIP as a starter 3.84, Stroman 3.97 Until each and every one of you f***s line up single file and personally apologize to Gruber for being right, Goins will not be released from this team. The day you do that is the day he gets released and no longer sticks. The ball's in your court f***ers. Damn fool BTS just guaranteed Goins is a lock on this team to 2019.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Let's review the facts. Despite the fact that Ryan Goins has put up a career fWAR of -0.3 and -1.8 if you exclude 2015, he has now occupied a roster spot on not just one but TWO Jays' front office regimes. If he stuck it out during AA's tenure you could write if off as a brain fart. But he has stuck it out under Shapiro as well. Sixth most plate appearances on this team this year. Clearly there is something about Goins that goes well beyond looking up a stat on fangraphs.com. You people are all just too narrow-minded to see that Gruber has caught onto that and is really a genius. Or do you all want to say that you know more about baseball than both Anthopoulos and Shapiro? Both men who rose very quickly through the ranks in baseball front offices at a young age.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 To be fair I don't think either front office intended on Goins to be a regular player Anthopolous tried to trade for Ian Kinsler but the deal feel through Later Gose was traded for Travis who is good enough to be a regular starting 2B And they got a solid veteran SS It's only because of injuries rhat Goins has played so much. He's supposed to be the 2nd backup behind Barney

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 what was the context of so many people voting Sanchez at the time? I cant recall to be honest why i voted stroman, but looking back on it, it seems rather obvious I don't think it was obvious. Sanchez was a year younger, and looked dominant in 2016, while Stroman looked like quality, reliable #2. The blister issues have completely derailed Sanchez's season, so we have no idea if the skill improvements would have carried over.
