This thread wasn't which one you would pick for just this season. There's every chance Sanchez has the better career.

 

Last year:

 

Sanchez = 3.9 WAR, 3.55 FIP and the AL leader in ERA (3.00);

 

Stroman = 3.6 WAR, 3.72 FIP, 4,37 ERA.

 

We should just be grateful that we've got two young controllable starters who when injury free can be borderline aces.

If he stuck it out during AA's tenure you could write if off as a brain fart. But he has stuck it out under Shapiro as well. Sixth most plate appearances on this team this year.

 

Clearly there is something about Goins that goes well beyond looking up a stat on fangraphs.com. You people are all just too narrow-minded to see that Gruber has caught onto that and is really a genius.

 

Or do you all want to say that you know more about baseball than both Anthopoulos and Shapiro? Both men who rose very quickly through the ranks in baseball front offices at a young age.

Anthopolous tried to trade for Ian Kinsler but the deal feel through

 

Later Gose was traded for Travis who is good enough to be a regular starting 2B

 

And they got a solid veteran SS

I don't think it was obvious. Sanchez was a year younger, and looked dominant in 2016, while Stroman looked like quality, reliable #2. The blister issues have completely derailed Sanchez's season, so we have no idea if the skill improvements would have carried over.
