King Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 If you had to choose one or the other, who would you keep moving forward?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 King is doing his best to be voted dumbest poster of the year.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 If you had to choose one or the other, who would you keep moving forward? Stroman 3 main reasons - Talent is a lot closer than people think (edge Sanchez) - Sanchez' arm is going to blow up at some point - Sanchez has more trade value right now and it's not close
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 King is doing his best to be voted dumbest poster of the year. King is this True? Or are we all humanary stew unless we pledge aligence to the Black Widow?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Biagini! jk. I picked Stroman.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Sancheezy, cause his height measures his heart
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 If you had to choose one or the other, who would you keep moving forward? Why can't we keep both??? Lol
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Sanchez. Stroman looks too much like Ricky Romero, so I don't trust him.
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Can't we keep both long term?
Gary Verified Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Stroman projects as a career reliever. Sanchez and it isn't even close. AA should have pulled the trigger on the Carasco for Stroman trade.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I wouldn't trade either, unless we were ripping the other team off.

AA should have pulled the trigger on the Carasco for Stroman trade. Stroman does NOT project as a career reliever. In fact, he projects at 3.2 WAR next year and a 3.68 era/fip. That would put him roughly in the top 30 amongst starters for WAR and top 40 for FIP based on this year's numbers, and that WAR number is probably low as he'll likely exceed the projected innings.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Another idiotic thread. Maybe we should start another called 'Travis or Goins'. Time for your first thread deletion Governator.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I voted Stroman because the second that you board s***-iots get too high on Sanchez is the exact moment he will turn into dog turd. Do you not remember the Stroman projects to be an ace conversations this time last year? Sanchez is a reliever or #4/5 guy. That's what I said last year and I am sticking to it unlike all of you hive-mind bandwagon jumpers.

A 5'6" starting pitcher is not sustainable when they age.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 A 5'6" starting pitcher is not sustainable when they age. He's 5'8 or 5'9, but even if it's not sustainable as he ages, he's only 25. We control him for another 4 full years. The height probably doesn't catch up with him until his early 30's, IF it does then. Flash Gordon was 30 when he moved to the pen, and he was much more of a string bean. He's probably the closest comparable. Even then, he was an all-star closer. Keeping him going forward doesn't mean retiring as a Jay.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Stroman vs. Sanchez is an old school guy's wet dream of "I told you so". Stroman is a big league starter but height does seem to matter when you're talking margin for error. Sanchez's margin for error is gargantuan because of his fastball. Which would lead you to believe he is a much safer long-term guy. Sanchez's fastball is too good. Been saying it for over a year. If you can get through a lineup 3 times based on your one pitch, you are a stud. I've never, ever seen Sanchez dominate a lineup 3 times with just one pitch.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I've never, ever seen Sanchez dominate a lineup 3 times with just one pitch. This statement puzzles me because I have seen it multiple times, but I won't argue semantics. It's safe to say he often has success 3 times through while relying heavily on his fastball.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Sanchez better career But glad we still have both
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I said "get through". But ok. Also there was a start 2 years ago against HOU where they couldn't get the ball out of the infield for something like 8 IP and Sanchez threw like 5 breaking balls. You're right, but my original point stands. Regarding his start against the Astros, he threw 91% of his pitches for fastballs. Went for a 3.68 xFIP and a FIP over 4. One start sure, but his K rate rises along with the use of his secondary pitches.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Another idiotic thread. Maybe we should start another called 'Travis or Goins'. Time for your first thread deletion Governator. Oh Grant, lighten up buddy this is better then most threads started of late! Miles better then the League of Dicks membership drive and bogus vote seen on here. This and all the useless threads that followed since then can all be blamed and traced back to BTS!!! Damn him!!! Lol
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I picked Shanchez cause he doesn't need a hundred different pitches or grips as Stroman feels he needs to succeed as it stands right now.If Stroman would throw what works rather then what he thinks works best it might be different ! Focus on purrfecting 4 rather then 10 kinda thing!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Sanchez. Stroman looks too much like Ricky Romero, so I don't trust him. Racist.
