thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Wish Ernie Banks could've lived to see this day.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Ugh I hate Joe Buck. The least descriptive play by play guy who ever existed. *Silence* *Pitch thrown* *Batter swings and misses for strike three* *Crowd cheers* "ONE AWAY!!" *Silence for like 15 seconds* I get its because Joe Buck doesn't know any single thing about baseball, but Jesus Christ, stop giving him these prime games in that case. That was a great call. Basically say what you need to, get out of the way and let people enjoy the moment.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 So Indians at 35% on fan graphs might still be a bad bet. But I no be surprise if win somehow. Who does everyone like here? I know people are saying they want Cubs to win but I find it hard to root for the best team in baseball. Would like to see Indians take them down.

They literally haven't won since BEFORE WORLD WAR 1 EVER HAPPENED. Once they win a WS we can start rooting against them.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Yea but it's a better story the best team in baseball getting taken down by a team ravaged by injuries. Plus we haven't won a WS since most of us were kids. Kids god damnit! Not fair. When you put it into perspective most of the fans who were around for the Cubs not winning are already dead and its a lot of greedy fans who think they deserve it just because they haven't won for a while. They had slammin Sammy Sosa and some other good players, probably, should be enough to keep them happy for another 108 years.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 I hope the Cubs win and I feel they will do it. As good as Cleveland is I dont think their starters are going to be able to shut the Cubs down the same way they did the Jays. This could mean Andrew Miller wont be able to be as effective. I like the Indians but it would be nice to see the Cubs take this at home in game 5.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 This may sound absolutely ridiculous, but when you are facing a pitcher who is absolutely dealing like Hendricks is and you are losing is there a case for IBBing him? I don't know if there are any stats about how pitchers do after having to run the basepaths. When I'm pitching I hate being on base and having to run the bases. But I'm fairly old and somewhat out of shape
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Its called letting the crowd speak. That was actually great IMO, and lots of others agree. Hate to break it to you, but lots of other people like Budweiser. Does that make it the king of beers? Called argumentum ad populum. Joe Buck is awful and he relies on his colour guys so much to make anything interesting. He doesn't know what any of the pitches are called or how they move. Any pitch up in the zone is "dangerous". He's already said the only time he watches baseball is when he gets inexplicably thrown the biggest games in the entire year. He's truly terrible and riding on the success of his dad.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Wow, Boxy throwing out latin to hide his inner dumn.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Go Cubs... Because I like how they built their team. Tremendous young talent... Then augment with veteran stars and leadership. It's what I had hoped the Jays would've done... But the patience wasn't there.
