Giving up young assets for older players is not a good plan in the long run. You want to destroy the farm and have to wait another 5 years to rebuild?

Overpaying for free agents is a poor investment and historically not a good route to a WS win. Elite talent under control is, and the Jays are weak in that area.

I think if we offer something around $18-21 million for 4 years...He will accept if not I will hold no grudge against management. I don't see anyone offering $25 per year or giving a 5th year but I could be wrong
