RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Based on that I am guess we offered 3/75 with options
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Can we just trade for Votto instead plz Shouldnt you be in the off topic threads bashing women
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Based on that I am guess we offered 3/75 with options I doubt it. I'm thinking more like 4/90
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Giving up young assets for older players is not a good plan in the long run. You want to destroy the farm and have to wait another 5 years to rebuild? What if we trade Travis/Alford/+ for Cutch and he still sucks? Not worth the risk What if Travis fractures his left testicle and Alford runs into/through another wall?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 What if Travis fractures his left testicle and Alford runs into/through another wall? Then the blue jays made a bad deal
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 So Shapiro's cheaping out from 125 million the agent is expecting. This guy is a real penny pincher. Goodbye EE you will be truly missed and thank you for some absolute monster home runs, cheers.

King Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 3m3 minutes ago #Mariners have expressed interest in free agent Brett Cecil, sources say. Seattle is determined to add a left-handed reliever. @MLB Goodbye Squints
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Cecil could be heading to Seattle as per Morosi. Edit.. King is too quick.
Nabru Verified Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Why is that every team has a group of fans who think the GM/President of Baseball Ops owns the team? The "cheap" comments smell of people who have not the slightest clue of how a big business is structured.

If someone else wants to overpay for a player on decline and give us the pick, fine by me.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Orioles are going hard after Reddick apparently. I sure hope we get him, he is the absolute perfect piece to add to this team. Reddick Jansen Logan Resign EE

Generally, signing a free agent is an overpay. You've signed him for more than any other team will. So effectively has zero trade value. It's only when a player wants to play for a certain team or certain teams and takes a discount to do it, is it not an overpay. This is likely EE's one chance to cash in big, he's not taking a discount.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 We've got a ton of cash man. Overpaying for free agents is a poor investment and historically not a good route to a WS win. Elite talent under control is, and the Jays are weak in that area.
