KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 With the prices that relievers are fetching on the FA market, with the trend towards contenders building shutdown bullpens, I think we have to be careful before making assumptions that guys like Biagini and Osuna would provide more "value" as starters. That way of thinking seems a bit dated. Seems like monetary values on pitchers are falling out of line with WAR and more in line with WPA (tough it's still somewhere in the middle). By wpa, Osuna was second only to Sanchez in value and Biagini was worth more than Stroman.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 watch Biagini end up just like Hendriks, shipped away for a piece we don't really need. Why, the Jays were elated they picked him in the rule 5 draft, why on earth would they move him after the year he just had?

Does reliever use and five man rotation have to be revisited?? Could you use a four man rotation, 2 times through the order limit... then a reliever strategy that would get 100 innings from Biaginni/Osuna/Liriano
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Instead of the Osuna starting thread there should be a Biagini starting thread. I think that is closer to actually happening.

It only works in the post-season.

"Ahead of the curve"
polar bear Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 I'm almost certain the Osuna as a starter ship has sailed. Hopefully not.the young guy has got to give it a go,or I'm sure he will live to regret it,if he doesn't.
