OsunaMatata Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Heading down on Friday. Got last 2 queen beds room at Comfort Inn for $500, $9.50 parking whereas most downtown hotels are $30 for self parking. Got it Tuesday morning. 10 min walk to Progressive Field. Got Friday and Saturday tickets from TickPick which I would recommend to anyone (PM me for more info, can help you out get a promo) paid $170 US each for infield 500 level with no fees. Going to get a round of golf in on the way to Cleveland. Let me know where you guys are meeting up, would love to raise a glass and hopefully celebrate with fellow Jays fans. I would recommend not waiting around to get tickets, I have a feeling they are going to go up, not down, closer to game time as this game will see as many Canadians there as Seattle did for regular season.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I think we're going to go Friday but only going to the game Saturday for sure. If we get a deal Friday may take in that one too. Of course hotels are completely picked over downtown. $400+ a night for anything not a dive. airbnb brah
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 airbnb brah There weren't many AirBNB's available in the downtown area and they were pretty much the same price as hotels (in the $200-$250 range per night) and many didn't have two beds, so if you're travelling with buddies it's kinda of tough. Unless you stay outside of the city.
HomeRunHittaZ Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Got tickets for Saturdays game, 5 of us. Down to meet before at a bar and get real loud. Going to get a Canadian flag. Anyone been to cleveland - any good places to eat, thinking of checking out rock and roll HOF and NFL Hof. Section 557 is us. anyone else in this section. I made calls to Indians, MLB and Jays- regarding time on Saturday -I guess they are waiting until game 5 wraps up tomorrow, meaning wont know till friday at earliest. look forward to meeting some of you homers!

Like I said, there isn't much of a selection available for this weekend.

Ah, forgot about those dates. I checked them again and there still are decent options across the river from $66 to $120. It's a lot better than paying $400 a night at a hotel that you're not going to be spending a whole lot of time at. You and your friend can also take turns and use the uber/lyft free promos while you're there if you're a bit far from the stadium (but it doesn't look too bad)
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Just get a room at a hotel 15 minutes away for 1/3 the price and Uber it over...

If I was travelling solo, I'd definitely go that route. I mainly rent private rooms with AirBNB when I travel solo, since its cheaper. I'm not paying $400 per night for a room, thats ridiculous. I'm splitting the cost so it works out to $225 total for the two nights. I'd basically be paying the same thing if I were renting a private room on AirBNB. I like AirBNB though sometimes they can be as expensive or even more then hotels. And the service fee + cleaning fee (which the host charges) + taxes can sometimes be ridiculous on top of the nightly average rate. You have to do your research and see what works out to be cheaper and more practical. As well, if you plan on staying somewhere for a week, having your own apartment with a kitchen is a lot better then staying at a hotel. As for Uber & Lyft promos, tried redeeming them when in Portland and Seattle back in September, though they are only for new accounts only.
intrigid Verified Member Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Yeah guys seriously, find a hotel 20-30 minutes from the stadium and save hundreds of $$s. You're there for multiple days, so who cares about a little extra driving?

Vegasdogg Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Cleveland fan here. Moved to Las Vegas after 37 years, and been here since 2005. I know the city of Cleveland and surrounding areas pretty well. If you're going to stay in town for the game look for hotels in Euclid or Wickliffe OH (east of Progressive Field) or Strongsville or Brecksville OH (south of Progressive Field). The ride would take about 20-25 mins each. The Super 8 below is $55 per night and has openings now for Friday and Saturday, checkout Sunday Super 8 Strongsville, 15385 Royalton Rd, Strongsville, OH, 44136 855-238-1592
Vegasdogg Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I dont think there is much parking near the ballpark. Uber would be the best thing imo Cleveland is going to charge a lot of money to park downtown, which they already do but more so for the game. I never paid those prices when I went to Browns-Cavs-Indians games. Best thing would be to Uber or Cab ride. Not only is parking a pain but getting out after the game is crazy.
HomeRunHittaZ Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 ok i wont, just help understand why?> arent we the only Canadian team, I thought it made sense, I seen it throughout the playoffs, but id rather spend money on blue jays gear than a flag..

You know how stupid those fans chanting "USA, USA!!" sound everywhere Jays go? That's how you look when you bring your Canadian flag.

Yet people have no problem making fun of those 'murica' fans
intrigid Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Any guesses as to what the percentage of jays fans will be in the stands this weekend? By comparison, I was in Seattle for games 1 and 2, and it was, at an absolute minimum, 2/3rds jays fans, judging by the jerseys it looked more like 80-85%. I know it won't be nearly that high but I'm hoping it's 35-40%.

Id like to be able to chant vs the indians fans.
