fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Yu Darvish in the presser: Question: "What's the dangerous thing in the Jays lineup to avoid?" Darvish: "Try not to hit them" lol
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 This might sound like a dumb question, but I haven't sat in 500 level since I was a kid. Can you access the flight deck from the 500 level?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Shi Davidi Verified account @ShiDavidi #BlueJays sub out Goins and Pompey for Happ and Sanchez in ALDS Its hard to argue because we rarely use Pompey anyways. He can pinch run, and that is a great tool, but with Gibby he doesn't get used much. Barney does what Goins does better. Though I hope Tapera and Loup do not see the light of day during the series.

Can you access the flight deck from the 500 level? Not during the post season, but a tip you can always chill in the 100 level just behind people in wheel chairs and stand behind the yellow line and you're good to go, you do lose sight of the ball with the over hang though if its a fly ball.

The main argument is that it feels like we don't need all 3 of Feldman, Tepera, and Loup. I mean, we should only need them in a mop-up role essentially, and if we have that many mop-up roles, then we're not winning the series anyways. Bring along 2 of them just in case, and bring along Pompey who might be able to come in and give us a critical pinch run.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Gibby should use Feldman or Tepera as pinch runners. He'll probably use Stroman.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I think Loup will be used against LHP, maybe even over Cecil if Osuna isn't available. Though Cecil didn't get the only man against Baltimore he was supposed to.

Though Cecil didn't get the only man against Baltimore he was supposed to. Yeah Loup is the LH specialist in that scenario. If Osuna isn't unavailable Cecil/Grilli/Liriano will be our late inning guys. Cecil isn't a LH specialist just got thrown in to the roll from a rough start but he can get batters from both sides of the plate out as good as anyone in our pen. God help us if Gibby throws Tepera in that mix.

Not true, not true this year, and he looked damn awful pitching to Chris Davis,

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 He cracked me up when I heard this, I hope they keep this guy in the organization somehow if they decide to go with a different manager lol
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Numbers are not absolute. They should be used as one of the various methods to judge whether or not a player is performing, but nothing should be taken as a bible. So if FIP doesn't suit your argument people go to XFIP, or the next one or whatever. Personally I accept FIP, but to think that all flyballs have a equal chance of turning into homeruns is f***ing stupid. Some pitchers get hit harder than other, and their pitching has a lot to do with it.
youngtea Verified Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 If thats the case why even have him on the ALDS roster then, its 4-7 days in length. Based on reports I can speculate they will be resting him today and tomorrow. Will look at him again on Sunday.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I remembered them putting it up because the 2014 opening day was against the Blue Jays so we saw them put up the banner on TV. Oh NOW I get it. I thought you were saying the Rays defeated the Jays in the Wild Card game.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Who is Gibby kidding. We all know it will be Grilli.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Who is Gibby kidding. We all know it will be Grilli. what if you got Odor, Lucroy, Moreland, Andrus and Choo coming up? Also remember they have Mazara to PH

Judging a reliever by his K/BB, especially one with equal splits is a great way to find a set up man when your closer becomes unavailable. Judging a reliever by his HR/FB % is just stupid. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=rel&lg=all&qual=30&type=c,4,5,11,7,8,13,-1,36,37,40,43,44,48,51,-1,6,45,62,-1,59,38&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=14&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=19,d

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 That tweet is from May in case anyone starts thinking Stroman is trying to stir s*** up in October.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Well then. 2 up exactly how the Rangers were, picking up 2 wins on the road. Do you guys think we're gonna slow down with this day off like the Rangers did or we're going to close the deal? The off day between Boston and the WC, and the other one between then and the Rangers showed no slowdown, if anything we continued to improve

Mkdaman1818 Verified Member Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Hopefully we learned from the Rangers last year that we need to go in for the kill. A major difference is that we are actually starting our ace in game 3, rather than avg/below avg starters like Texas did for game 3 and 4 last year. Hopefully we punish them Sunday and get a week to heal up.

If Sanchez can lead us to victory Sunday, it can help us get the upper hand in setting the rotation up the preferable way. This is why pitching depth is so great even in a best of 3 game series. Now the Rangers are forced to use one of their less attractive options while we can lay out our true #1 -- all because our 2 & 3 guys can pitch in big spots (let's not forget Stromans job either to get us here)

As long as they keep on the juice (booze, not PEDs), I'm sure these professional athletes will know that they have to go in for the kill Sunday evening.
