Happ has been a clutch performer and I'm glad he's going to get the prestige of being a 20-gamer. That's pretty cool no matter what your opinion on the stat is. Happ is the first player I think of among guys who have provided way more of the intended value that's compensated for some severe patches of underperformance elsewhere.

 

Edit: wow, just checked and the Happ, Estrada, Stroman, and Sanchez band has averaged about 3.0 WAR, give (Sanchez) or take (Estrada) a few personal tenths. Collectively clutch. The team is scrapping just to stay relevant without these performances.

I don't give a s*** about pitcher wins, and that his season is pretty awful to other 20 win seasons by comparison. But damn, it's still kinda neat that Happ's got 20 wins...just a little.

I don't know how many friends of mine still ask me about the Jays upcoming game arm and say "he has X wins doesn't he?" as if that's the determining factor in their view of how effective they will be. They even lay bets based on that. Then they go on to talk about Eddy's RBI total and how we need to play more small ball.

 

Still...20 wins is pretty cool for the Happ man. Just sayin'

I think the next person who starts a stupid GDT and we lose...instead of getting a Ban, they should receive that cookie via mail and have to eat it to get us going again. Or at the very least lick the chemicals clean off the top.

Rotation has been excellent. Not only have they all been effective, but they've also been healthy. Hopefully next year is the same unit with Liriano in for Dickey.
