Why the hell is Travis not leading off... and if you're going to rest Upton against a s***** RHP put Smoak in. Still looks good overall tbh.

Still looks good overall tbh. No reason to rest Upton with the off day tomorrow. He's been hitting the ball really well. Even yesterday he had a couple of warning track fly balls to RF. Also I hate our OF defense with both Bautista and Saunders floundering around out there.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Ah, the return of "professional hitter" Navarro. Gibbons is a POS.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Ah, the return of "professional hitter" Navarro. Gibbons is a POS. "Well, ya know, he can hit"
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Smoaks garbage to so it really doesn't matter Navarro has a motherf***ing 59 wRC+. If anything, let him catch and Martin DH; at least that wouldn't be such a farce. Smoak at least has a 95, which while not saying much, is at least nearly a league average hitter.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I don't understand the hatred of Dioner on this site? I understand he isn't God's gift to hitting, but he isn't atrocious
Vialotor Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Gibbons , I just don't understand his logic. Why is Tulo still hitting below Martin and Saunders, Travis hitting ninth is awful, and of course Navarro.

I understand he isn't God's gift to hitting, but he isn't atrocious He very much IS atrocious. Nobody has a problem with him as a backup catcher, that's fine. But he's a goddamn terrible hitter at this point in his career, and giving him any PAs as a DH is a damn joke.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Are you just never going to play him? You let him catch to give Martin rest. You don't force him into the lineup just for the sake of getting him in there. He's not a good hitter

BTS Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 So Gibbons thinks Navarro is a better hitter than Justin Smoak?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 So Gibbons thinks Navarro is a better hitter than Justin Smoak? He is the teams new god damn mascot
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 So Gibbons thinks Navarro is a better hitter than Justin Smoak? I can understand he wants to give Navarro some ABs, but as a DH, it's just disgraceful. Given Martin the day off from squatting.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 if a 59 wRC+ .264 wOBA and .608 OPS isn't considered atrocious for your f***ing DH I don't want to know what is

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Or he's a thought, maybe DH one of those pylons in the corner outfield and let Upton play over Navarro.

Gibbons substituted garbage with garbage and to be honest I would trust Navarro batting more than I trust Smoak. Take out the beginning of the year when Smoak was hot and he isn't even close to league average.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 to be honest I would trust Navarro batting more than I trust Smoak. Stupid. Also, Upton is better than both.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Gibby is just trying to jump start Navarro, fricking relax.

As bad as you've perceived Smoak to be as of late, he's still been way better than Navarro. 92 wRC+ post All-star break. 84 wRC+ in August
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 At least Smoak can run into the occasional home run and walks at a solid clip. Navarro as a hitter does literally nothing well.
