O's fans are pathetic--15,532 in a pennant race. Embarassing.. low attendance is going to cost them in the offseason when Trumbo leaves for bigger money and they're forced to trade players with big raises like Tillman and Britton..

5k of those were jays fans.... lol

In the span including yesterday's game and the first two ABs in tonight's game, Donaldson had four home runs and two warning track fly balls.

so apparently fan590 is moving baseball central back to 11-12, to accommodate the Hockey clowns.

Makes me sick. I really like to hear Blair and Barker on my lunch break at the sweat shop.

Now i'll have to listen to why the Kipper thinks Sydney Crosby's nuts are made of Gold

It annoys me a ton when I hear Toronto fans and media say so and so's fans are pathetic because they have only "x" amount of fans in the ballpark. There used to be like 5000 fans at the Dome only a few years ago. Just because they have had an above average attendance for 2 years doesn't give you the right to complain about all of these other parks.

If the Jays didn't have a roof and it was a cool weeknight in September the Jays wouldn't be getting nearly as many fans.

wasn't available to watch live and just re-watched it on the O's feed

Seems like Palmer is a big fan of the Jays. Complemented their pickup of Biagini and Benoit and of course Estrada; there were others as well. Pretty enjoyable to listen to; of course it helps that we won

I have to disagree with you on that. If the team is 1st/2nd place like they are now, the stadium will be packed all throughout September

It will on the weekends for sure but during the week there is far far less demand especially when school starts. If there was no roof my guess is attendance would be 25-35K.

The team has been mediocre for 20 years. They never were in much contention for a playoff spot so, especially this late in the season, spending money on tickets and concessions for a team not making the playoffs seems like a waste of time for most non die-hard baseball fans. But with the team being a playoff caliber team for about a calendar year, the fans have more of a reason to spend their hard earned money to watch a bunch of overpaid athletes who actually have a legitimate chance of winning something.

Baltimore has had more winning seasons the past couple of years, and are currently in a playoff spot right now, and had a very sparse crowd against a hated divisional rival who brought alot of their own fans with them. How many Orioles fans do you see at the Rogers Centre when the Orioles play there???

Cleveland has always had attendance issues, which is why they had the wonderful idea of having 10 cent beer night back in the 70's which turned into riot night in the stands! This season, Cleveland has been in first place for much of the season and still don't attract a very big crowd.

Huge win

Team has a stretch of.losing series openers

Given how huge this series is, sure was nice to start off with a victory

I was sitting on the fence whether Benoit was for real but I was impressed with him the last time he was up and this outing sold me. Benoit was cool even when he got ripped for the 3rd strike out by the umpire.....Make that 3 good FO signings......

What are you talking about. We went through over 20 year playoff drought, one of the longest in history, with owners who own the team, stadium and tv channel making cake but not putting a good product on the field. Obviously we weren't gonna keep going. We're not the leafs fanbase.

Also I extremely disagree with the last comment. People watch leafs games in the winter where its snowing outside and iced inside the ACC. A winning team will make people come its as easy as that. Cleveland is a s***** fanbase because its one of the worst attendance while they are a first place team with a good stadium. Same with the Rays fans during the Maddon era, which i guess their stadium sucks, but still not an excuse for not showing up and supporting the team leading the AL east with a quarter of the Yankees payroll. Those are pathetic fanbases.

We went through 21 years of s*** don't compare us to them

Also Baltimore has a much smaller population than Toronto. 2.8 mil vs 6.054 mil.

Furthermore Median income in Baltimore is far lower than Toronto. So less money and less people equals less people in the stands.

Meh. They care more about the Ravens.

Nah. Toronto is starving for a winner. We'd have a packed house regardless of temperature, especially while in first.

The complaints regarding other teams fan bases not showing up are in regards to winnings teams. To try and compare that to our 60 win seasons isn't really fair. Also 5000 in an extreme exaggeration.

The fans in this city will fill the ball park for a winner. The dome was open and sold out for the majority of games last September (minus the ones with rain) so the 25-35k prediction is pretty hilarious in itself

Yeah, I don't know why people brag about Toronto attendance all of a sudden.

If the Jays didn't have a roof, and it was a cool night in September, and there was a federal election on the same night, and if there was a terrorist threat earlier in the day, and if SARS was prevalent again, and if the Subway was down, and if the Pope was visiting, there wouldn't be nearly as many fans.

From Wikipedia (yes I know): The smallest crowd for a Jays game occurred in April 2010, when 10,314 watched Toronto win 8–1 against the Kansas City Royals

Probably not accurate. I'm pretty sure the smallest crowd for a Jays game took place in Tampa Bay.
