Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Having Sanchez stay a starter is fine but I hate a 6 man rotation. I don't want stroman, Estrada and Happ starting less... Most teams can barely find 5 capable starters. All you're doing is taking starts away from your top guys. I'd rather go with a 4-man rotation if you're looking for max output... But I'm not sure there's a rotation in MLB that has the personnel that could handle it.

Ideally they'd just keep Sanchez in there and then decide on what to do with Dickey and Liriano. But right or wrong they are concerned about Sanchez's health and want to limit his innings. This is a good way to shave 15 to 20 innings off. They could even skip a start once in a while. My guess is that Estrada's back may have played a factor as well. Happ isn't a spring chicken and even Stroman isn't free from innings concerns. I think I'd probably make the same decision.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 This is great news. It limits some of Sanchez's innings while keeping him in the rotation. The success of it for the team will come down to how well Liriano pitches. This should be a good thing for Stroman as well. He has pitched a ton of innings this year compared to last so it should keep him fresher down the stretch as well.

Atkins said Liriano and the rest of rotation signed off on the move. Shut it down, I want to hear about better soil, Wyoming vs Colorado
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 It's better than moving Sanchez to the pen It's not as good as skipping Dickey or piggybacking him with Sanchez All the off days coming up mean even larger gaps
