fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Shatkins is so refreshing. So many shrewd little moves. AA worked the waiver wire like crazy... With little success Shatkins make small moves like this at a smaller rate but so far so good. I love this move
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted in general discussion last week. Great call buddy!!!!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted in general discussion last week. Always liked Benoit. Despite his struggles, he has a proven track record of being an elite late inning reliever. Hopefully he can turn it around here like Grilli has.
fireballW Verified Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Shatkins is so refreshing. So many shrewd little moves. Agree. Like Revere for Storen.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Still averaging 94.5 with his fastball Averaging 94.1 averaged 94.2 last year http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1437&position=P#pitchtype Great guys thanks!!! Wow I think we won this based on face value, just from an entertainment point of view we have a hard thrower instead of a guy still thinking his stuff is in the 90s throwing meatballs
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 a K pitcher in the pen is very useful. more useful than the Storen shitballer.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 GBill, we need a Drew Storen appreciation thread.

Like Benoit though, nice move.
jiminy Verified Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 He's still hitting 95 mph on his fastball
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Much like Grilli, Benoit was hurt earlier this year and the velo/peripherals look fine. Maybe another case of never really getting comfortable.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Great call buddy!!!! Thanks! I love this move as well. Getting these veteran arms is going to be huge for our playoff push. I really think he could turn things around and be a dominant arm, much like Grilli. Atkins is doing a fine, fine job so far.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 i guess this means we won't be seeing GoGo or Shitabello.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Agree. Like Revere for Storen. Storen has probably been better than Revere lol
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 The title cut off at Drew... and my heart sank thinking it was Hutch lol.
Nabru Verified Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 i guess this means we won't be seeing GoGo or Shitabello. What does swapping relievers have to do with those two?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Umm AA got plenty of value out of waivers. More than what Benoit will provide. Like Benoit though, nice move. Who'd we get off waivers? Laffey? Villanueva? Fred Lewis?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Much like Grilli, Benoit was hurt earlier this year and the velo/peripherals look fine. Maybe another case of never really getting comfortable. Change of scenery may be just what he needs!
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 meh, we're just exchanging one declining reliever for another
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Who'd we get off waivers? Laffey? Villanueva? Fred Lewis? Edwin Encarnacion.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Strike percentage is only slightly down from his career norms. Pretty decent chance that his walk rate will come down.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 Who'd we get off waivers? Laffey? Villanueva? Fred Lewis? Colabello
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 He had a bad month of June. Walks are starting to normalize. Love this.
jiminy Verified Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Soon the jays will be the oldest team in baseball
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 meh, we're just exchanging one declining reliever for another Did you say the same about Grilli? The K-rate is still very strong and the velo is there. Much more potential than Storen.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Shatkins are doing this without giving twenty thousand lottery tickets
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Thanks! I love this move as well. Getting these veteran arms is going to be huge for our playoff push. I really think he could turn things around and be a dominant arm, much like Grilli. Atkins is doing a fine, fine job so far. Dude this is awesome, he had a random jump in walks but stuff seems to still be there, his velo averaging out at the same rate it was last year, and he has an option. This is so refreshing to see. What a contrast compared to last season's deadline but man they've been effective and exciting. The Cleveland penny pinching mentality is probably being loved by the suit wearers at Rogers, $5M for Upton, free Grilli and a third of the 15$M (I think) minus the cash from Seattle. I'm very impressed
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Edwin Encarnacion. Isn't that JP Riccardi? Him and Bautista were both from the Riccardi era
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Another nice move by Shatkins. I like what hes done outside of the Smoak extension.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
