gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Don't be surprised if Upton finds his comfort zone again being back in the AL East. Baseball is funny that way.
TRM Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 There's an argument to be made you just traded for Rays Upton for a fraction of the price and a lottery ticket prospect http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/i-dont-mean-to-alarm-you-but-melvin-upton-jr-is-back/
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 The prospect still hasn't been named . I'm nervous.
youngtea Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Like the deal. I just hoped they made a bigger move for where we need more help; bullpen and a catcher. I suppose the deal was too good to pass up.

Martin doesn't deserve to lose his job and, like it or not, Thole is the only guy who can catch one of the team's SPs.

Bojangles Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Curious on everybody's thoughts. Would you have preferred Bruce or Upton if the price to acquire were the same?
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 And Thole is not the only guy on the planet who can catch a knuckleball.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Curious on everybody's thoughts. Would you have preferred Bruce or Upton if the price to acquire were the same? That makes our club worse than acquiring Upton. By getting Upton we can eliminate Bautista's negative value in defense. If we were to get Bruce, we would still be stuck playing either one in the outfield.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Upton= Revere I guess Sale = Price. Who then = Tulo? Or am I getting greedy....
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Prospect is Hansel Rodriguez, per Heyman.

I can't fathom how Gibby can move Sanchez to the bullpen when he has won 10 games in a row. Makes no sense. Thole is mediocre and a backup catcher shouldn't cost them much to acquire. We really can't use Thole regularly as he is useless offensively.
youngtea Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 it is. Why do you say that? I know he is on innings restriction, but he is pitching really well. If he showed that he needs a rest it would be in his performances. He is also one of our best starters.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 That Hansel... so hot right now.

I feel like either Dickey and Thole go together or the Jays have to ride it out with Thole. The way R.A is he will probably be butt hurt that he's no longer pitching to his personal catcher and the one who helped him with the Cy Young.

Um....moving Sanchez to the bullpen has nothing to do with his results sir. This is a basic concept.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I want to say good job for not touching Davis or Penticost but.... I have no idea who he is. Anyone know anything about him? King?

It's also a potenrial health concern. Aaron's workload has exploded compared to his last two years. He's on pace for far more innings than he's ever done. As for Thole: he has a unique skill that no other backup C reliably has. Unless Dickey goes, Thole is staying. A backup C is by no means a make or break move anyway, as much as it admittedly hurts to watch Thole play.
