Who cares? Homeruns are a good thing, why are we trying to discredit them? Encarnacion, Bautista and Donaldson all seemingly go up there and try to hit the ball as hard as possible in the air everytime, and it works out great.

 

I'd take a walk and a homer over a few "well-placed" singles every day of the week, and I don't see why anyone would prefer different.

Ichiro has had close to 3,000 well placed singles and he's a future hall of famer.

Ken Griffey Jr. had 630 well positioned flyballs and he was a near-unanimous Hall of Fame selection. I don't see anyone complaining about his approach at the plate, and if someone actually did then they probably aren't/weren't very smart.

With our lack of ability to actually get hits...yes I'd say it's a not good thing. I think I have seen us get less than 5 hits a game more this year than the previous 3 ish years.
