JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 The Indians are proving that good pitching combined with a contact type offence can get it done. The live or die with the HR type offence will hopefully be a thing of the past after this season with Shapiro. ya this offence is flawed.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Hopefully Stroman doesn't ruin Canada Day.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I think we are top 5 in % of runs from the HR...so I think it's an accurate narrative. The entire MLB is hitting more home runs this year in general: http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/71804/ball-go-far-hitters-mashing-home-runs-at-near-record-pace
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Panty sniffing vs Salt and Vinigar dicks. Hmmmmm
Ssyen Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Indian's winning has to come to an end. Let Jays take the series win!
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 ??? The Blue Jays scored 14 runs, only one of them on a home run in the second game in homer friendly Coors Field. This narrative needs to go away. Because this happens sparingly, this narrative needs to go away, and againt a AAA caliber type starter and pen? The approach needs a culture shift.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Peace out Kids, going to a farm... for a bonfire and fun. Cheers! Have fun hooking up with some of your buddies.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 after a game like this you can only tip your cap to the opposing pitcher and try to do better tomorrow. Jays got manhandled tonight
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Hopefully Stroman doesn't ruin Canada Day. Probably a good bet that he does. The guy, and/or his advisers, don't get it. Worry about strikeouts and let your stuff cause the GBs, not vice-versa.
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 It was a disappointing loss, but the Blue Jays were shut down by a great pitching performance, hopefully the Blue Jays can win tomorrow.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I think we are top 5 in % of runs from the HR...so I think it's an accurate narrative. Who cares? Homeruns are a good thing, why are we trying to discredit them? Encarnacion, Bautista and Donaldson all seemingly go up there and try to hit the ball as hard as possible in the air everytime, and it works out great. I'd take a walk and a homer over a few "well-placed" singles every day of the week, and I don't see why anyone would prefer different.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 How bout that Allen kid? Good pitcher, not elite, not "game over" kind of pitcher.
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Ichiro has had close to 3,000 well placed singles and he's a future hall of famer.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Ichiro has had close to 3,000 well placed singles and he's a future hall of famer. Ken Griffey Jr. had 630 well positioned flyballs and he was a near-unanimous Hall of Fame selection. I don't see anyone complaining about his approach at the plate, and if someone actually did then they probably aren't/weren't very smart.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Pick up a bag of salt and vinegar dicks on the way. Wat???
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I think we are top 5 in % of runs from the HR...so I think it's an accurate narrative. So it's a bad thing...
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 So it's a bad thing... With our lack of ability to actually get hits...yes I'd say it's a not good thing. I think I have seen us get less than 5 hits a game more this year than the previous 3 ish years.
