Yeah not sure what Martin's love-affair is with the 0-2 inside 2SM? It seems to always turn into solid contact, at least from the eye-test.

Got a few strikeouts with it so you can't say it was completely horrible. Beltre took an inside 2 seamer to the OF but hardly anyone in MLB can do that.

I thought you would have given up the unrelated theme South Park memes this year. Or maybe that's supposed supposed supposed JD on top of Odor? Great to see them pull out another W!

The promising thing has been the serious drop in walks. And just from the eye test too he's been in way less 3 ball counts and isn't falling behind as much as before. I'm still questioning the Ks for now but the drop in walks might have staying power if he pitched like today.

I had, but the last two games I did it we won, so keep it going lol

I will try and blow that up and put their faces on it.. might take a bit of work.

Fan graphs has his curveball as the 5th best in the majors. Hope he keeps using it.

I remember when he first came up noticing how sharp that curve was. Thought it was quite a weapon if he could learn to command it consistently (obviously quite the if knowing Sanchez).

Yeah I agree. Even if he strikes out around 7 per 9 he is a number 3 starter at his current walk and groundball rates.

Man the starting pitching has been great.....if they keep pitching like this the division is ours IMO. The offense will get better. What happened to the board? Win today would be nice to win 3 straight get back to .500, time to go on a run. Nice to see Martin and EE with big hits.

Good thing this board bought the Pentium 100 hosting package, got to have sex with my wife during the blackout on my birthday instead of spending it with you shmucks.

Man do you guys like Shulman so far? His call on the EE homerun was depressing af, thought it was a flyout at first (heard the call while looking away). Would much rather get routinely Bucked.

Board suxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Don't know who the host is for this board but there should be multiple mods having email access to them to submit an urgent ticket that the forum is down. From my experience most hosts will have it back up withing minutes, if not then I would be shopping for a new one.

I think Buck lost his touch too.

A couple of years ago he would do "going back... At the track... At the wall... Looking up... Goodbye home run!"

Now all he does is "going back... At the track... At the wall... Looking up... And makes the catch..."

His call seems to translate better hearing him once a week on a prime time game than as an everyday announcer. Shulmans tone literally lulls me to sleep and his analysis on the Jays is no better than what you get with Buck and Tabby.

I like Schulman. Less platitudes and blah blah.

Like when he said last night "the shift giveth and the shift taketh away"

My problem with Buck and Tabby is they make s*** up all the time. Just stick to the facts and I'm happy. Case in point, last night Beltre swung so hard on a pitch that he went to one knee (which isn't uncommon for Beltre). Buck throws out "I know there aren't any unwritten rules in baseball anymore, but back in the day if someone swung that hard, we'd say - you want to swing that hard, well here you go".

1. I'm fairly sure there's never been an unwritten rule restricting how hard someone swung.

2. I have no f'ing idea what Buck's even suggesting. Is he saying back in the say they would have brush him back or thrown at a batter if he swung that hard?

He throws out this utter nonsense 2-3 times a night. That's my issue with him. I honestly don't remember the last game I watched where I didn't shake my head in disgust - and I typically miss half the game.

This site needs a testimonials page and this post needs to be at the very top in gold.

It was my wife's birthday yesterday....I just kept hitting refresh and cursing when the site was down. I'm thinking it was a missed opportunity.

I don't get it. Is Sanchez good now?

For 38 innings over 6 starts, yes he has been. 3.33 FIP. 0.7 fWAR. Great GB rate and acceptable BB rate.

Questions are is it sustainable and how many more starts before they relegate him to the pen regardless

what about his performance is not sustainable. Seems to me that guy throws hard, throws strikes, his secondary stuff has improved (as it should for a rookie), and he looks poised, controlled, and doesn't fall apart.

I dont see why Sanchez cannot continue this level of performance. Both his BABIP and his HR to Flyball ratio are higher than where they should be, so he has performed even better than the numbers show.

I actually agree with most of this. I've been impressed with his ability to absorb some early struggles and give the team a solid outing. Walks are down, SwStr% is up. He's been as good as any pitcher on the team. It's funny how people were losing their s*** because we didn't sign a #1 and our rotation was going to be s***. Those same people are probably impressed with Happ - even though he isn't really pitching that well yet.

I think Smoak has come up huge as of late. Even last year, I know a lot of people felt, he should have been playing over Cola every day. If the lineup continues to struggle, and you want to give it a strong up the middle order, I would consider the following upon Travis's return

Travis

Suanders

Donaldson

Bautista

Smoak

Encarnacion.

Tulo

Pillar

Martin

That is a crazy crazy good lineup, even with bats struggling. Even if Martin doesn't become average again, and Tulo doesn't improve. That lineup is going to murder pitchers.

Saunders has been great leading off, no need to switch it up when Travis gets back. Let him hit 7th or 8th when he comes back.

Buck seems to go out of his way on the air to mention how he thinks the Jays should have Pillar lead off again and drop Saunders in a "run producing" part of the lineup to provide "protection" to the middle of the order. Him saying this drives me crazy.
