Just like how last year our record for the first half didn't show our true talent, I think the underlying #'s and scouting show this team has been terrible and deserve a far worse record.

Donaldson is a max effort every single day guy.

And he is having calf issues and DHing more than Id like. I honestly don't mind the stars running smart, in situations when they know it counts( like 1B to 3B with 0/1 out). I remember Edwin wrecking his hamstring trying to leg out a GB. We don't need those kind of injuries.

I respect guys who play hard, but I respect those that play smart and stay on the field more.

People are stupid if the believe Shapiro. Things are going exactly as he wants for him. a .500 or below season and he can cash in long time veterans, get rid of Gibby and shed payroll.

Not to mention build his own team and not AA's team.

Jays might be 10-13, things have never been better for Shaprio

Sure sounds like he's blaming Gibby for running a poor spring training, and for the slow start to the season.

He should blame Gibby, but Donaldson is right. Almost every player has let fastballs down the middle go in hopes of upping the pitch count of the starter. This approach is stupid and costing us runs and ABs.

I think their pythag record is 11-12, so no they do t deserve a far worse record but even 11-12 is below where a lot thought this team would be at

Chipper Jones hate you

"What Jason Heyward needs to realize is that Jason at 80 percent is a force, and Jason at 80 percent is better than a lot of people in this league. And that there are a bunch of his teammates that are out there playing with discomfort and not healthy, and still going at it."

...

"It’s just a situation where, I don’t think he really realizes how much of an impact he has on the game just by his presence."

I don't expect Shatkins to bend over backwards to rescue AA's baby, but I think it's a bit silly to assume they want to lose so they can redecorate to their own tastes. You have to think any executive would be thrilled to luck into a one-year window with a core of Tulo-Jose-JD-Edwin-Martin. It's a chance to win it all and without too many lasting contracts. If the ship sinks they're not really on the hook and can move things forward according to their own plan. If the team makes another amazing run, everyone wins and they can still move forward with their own plan.

And, TBH, I'm not sure why Gibby is so undesirable that you'd want to tank a whole f***in' season to get rid of the guy. I'll gladly accept his flaws (which do admittedly seem a bit egregious this year so far) for a 95-win club and a strong playoff run. Shatkins would prefer the team to win, because why would anyone want to fail or be the face of failure?

Thankfully for the ignore button, I only see that kind of idiocy when people reply.

Edwin is a much better baserunner than you guys are giving him credit for. Ortiz' BSR is routinely between -4 and -9, Edwin is usually in the neutral range. I don't want him blowing out a quad trying to leg out an infield single on a routine ground ball.

Um - that wasn't a routine grounder. It was old man Rollins deep in the hole with a jump throw.

I remember him blowing out a hammy once after crossing the bag trying to leg one out.

Good point - he should probably never try again because he might get hurt.

To be clear I never said anything about tanking. What I said was this isn't a bad thing for Shapiro

Sure there's a silver lining but you said he "wanted" what's happening now. Just because there's a positive for him doesn't mean he wants it. As IW made pretty clear, what happens this year doesn't really impact his ability to put his mark on the team next year. He'll have to do that regardless.

What the f*** is a Dogg

All of this was established before my time, but I think it's safe to assume it's RealAccountant.

I don't know any of the old trolls. I just wait until someone points out that some poster is actually some ancient troll and x is his gimmick. Maybe someone can write up a spreadsheet.

Shapiro's comments are encouraging. If this continues, I hope some decisions are made regarding the coaching, instead of riding it into the ground.

And puphound, and jaysfan2014, and probably 4-5 other accounts. There's legitimately a severely disturbed person who has been posting on the forum for over a decade using hundreds (thousands?) of accounts. He has different personalities with completely different posting styles and points of view, and they talk to each other. It's kind of the forum dirty little secret.

No. Just, no. The Dogg was on another level.

A pint is on the table one day for anyone who can break this all down for me in an orderly, understandable way. This is fascinating to me from a psychological perspective.

The admin of this site made a bunch of troll accounts on the official MLB Jays forum to attract people here. That's my understanding of the situation anyways. And now that there's too much traffic and it's causing server capacity issues, he's stepping up his troll account here to make us go away.
