BTS Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 If the Orioles ever stop playing Joey Rickard, the rest of the AL East is in real trouble.

LOL It's because they're so mediocre. They remind me of the teams that the Jays have had for the past 15 years that never made the playoffs.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I'm actually looking forward to seeing Sanchez back in the pen. If the offense is performing we can get by with Hutch, Floyd or Chavez in the rotation. If Sanchez success against LHH carries over into the pen he is a great 1/2 inning addition. And if Cecil can be lethal again we should be a hell of a lot better lock down pen.

He's on pace to beat Kiermaier's metrics from last year.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 If the Orioles ever stop playing Joey Rickard, the rest of the AL East is in real trouble. Hes the heart and soul of that team though. His inspiring play in the absence of Adam "Gold Glover" Jones willed that team to first place.

Well the BABIP is also a full 20 points lower than last year so maybe it evens out? He's on a 5.4 win/600 pace and Steamer thinks he's 3.4 win/600. Lol, who the f*** saw this coming
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Cecil will be pitching in an intrasquad game tomorrow. He's getting close.

He's been one of the best defenders in all of MLB and Steamer had him above average.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I hope Tulo can come back and get ignited. Same with Bautsita when he's back. I want this lineup firing on all cylinders. I hope Carerras run dies out when Bautista comes back, if it ever does die out
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 This team has so many offensive weapons! We didn't even have A Saunders last year
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 What was the name of the Italian suspended for using PED? Jay Bruce for Michael Saunders?

If Hutch or Floyd take his spot, we now have 3 guys in Hutch/Floyd, Stroman, and Dickey that are good candidates to throw less than 5 innings/have bad starts on any given occasion. Also the pen becomes redundant if the offence is putting up runs like tonight. I get that it needs to happen to protect his arm, but I don't think anyone should be excited this is happening.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 They mismanaged Sanchez over the past few years and really babied him. I don't think we'll see that happen with this new regime. Maese, in his first start, went 5 innings last night. Under AA, that would've been 3 innings. Probably would've taken him 5 starts before he got up to 5 innings. Also, we've seen plenty of minor league starts with the starter going 7+. I'm used to seeing mostly 5 innings with the odd 6 inning start. Rios even threw a complete game this year which would've been unheard of.

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Saunders becomes only the Fourth Canadian to Hit 3 HomeRuns in a game!!! Pretty good company too. Question is do you Extended now? Our new DH ? Either Good on him and Good for him especially after last year. The Condor has Landed, thank you!
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I wouldn't extend Saunders, not with that knee, too much injury risk, maybe a 2-3 year deal.

At what salary though; at 5 million a year it would be a bargain even if he only plays 100 games a year.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 If you look at the Rogers Centre, for the last 15 years that is, there hasn't been very often that we haven't had an above average offense. The nature of the stadium lends itself to offense. Shatkins should focus on developing and acquiring pitching. There will always be offense, regardless of the playing nine.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I dont think you extend anybody, I think you let them all go. This is the end of this Jays run, try to win a WS this year and then move on. Make the qualifying offers and take the draft picks.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Yes, extend him for 3 more years. At what salary though; at 5 million a year it would be a bargain even if he only plays 100 games a year. Idk... Saunders could probably get something in the ballpark of 4yrs/50mil

VE2OH Verified Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Ha. You're not gonna get him at 5/yr. He is not that good a fielder and hot and cold at the bat. Why pay marginal players 5m and have so many up and comers stuck at 500k. Things need to be balanced out a bit. Three or 4 of the high price help are not worth their money and should be cut free. JMHO
