Laika Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 lol who the f*** cares about Ryan Tepera's disappointment
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Ummm...... This is a f***ing business and the business is to win. If you can upgrade your team at any f***ing time (and it is not that hard to do with Tepera) you do it. I quote price last year. If you don't like it then pitch better. My god!
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I quote price last year. If you don't like it then pitch better. Love that line. So applicable in all situations. Tepera...I could care less. If he was better he would still be up. We are trying to win a flag (ok, more than one flag)

TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Most significant part of this signing was that the Jays are back in the Scott Boras business.

I think people are just saying that from the human side of the game - this late move sucks for Tepera. I don't think any reasonable person is suggesting they shouldn't have added Morales because it hurts Tepera's feelings....but for a fringe major leaguer - to be told you made the team (probably after months of hard work) must have felt pretty good (he likely has the attitude that if you give me a chance - I'll run with it) - only to be let down right before opening day. I'm sure he realises it's business and that he'll pitch for the Jays this year. I'm also sure the Jays would have preferred to avoid this timing for all the reasons noted above...but it didn't happen. They sit down, have a man to man talk about the situation, reassure him he'll be part of the team this year and move on.

It is not like he doesn't know what its like to be in the majors lol. Ya s***** timing but when guys get released you have to be ready to pick them up sometimes thats how it works.

I'm sure the MLB team (much like a fantasy team) identifies "taxi spots" i.e. the first guys to go should something come up.

Let's be clear, the Jays are looking to upgrade for cheap. Otherwise they had PLENTY of opportunities for pitching/relief help during the off season.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Tepera might be upset and nobody really cares. Nobody understands why he even made the team to begin with.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 A Sportsnet article suggests the following: Morales’ deal is non-guaranteed, meaning that as a player with five years of experience, he signed a consent form that allows the Blue Jays to release him within 45 days and be responsible only for a pro-rated portion of his salary. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/morales-signing-ends-blue-jays-drought-boras-clients/
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Tepera might be upset and nobody really cares. Nobody understands why he even made the team to begin with. I think it's short sighted for a business not to care about their employees....even in baseball where Shapiro could drop the Cleveland steamer on Tepera, his wife and their newborn child and he'd still want to play/perform for the Jays because MLB is the pinnacle for his lifelong effort and his meal ticket for $$$.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
