I'm having a debate with a buddy.

Can any of you guys think of a player who had big injuries (more than year sidelined similarly to Saunders) and came back to be a very good player?

I'll accept pitchers but would rather hitters. (Carpenter qualifies)

Don't see that often, Donaldson with a 3 pitch SO watching 2 fastballs for strikes.

seems like a weird day today. two plays where he barely jogged to 1st, then this

I can't remember how much Tex and Granderson missed but it seemed like it was a full year. Garciaparra in 2006? I don't think Winfield played a game in 89. Canseco in the early 90's had some major issues but I think he played a game each year. Eric Davis in 95 took an entire year and a half (thanks partially to the strike) to recover from all his issues and came back great (only to find out he had cancer and come back from that)

Remember that one guy who said Stroman's spot wasn't guaranteed and then mentioned Penny. Good times Edited by Rusty_Savage

I feel like Dickey is really going to struggle at the beginning of the year again. His strikeout rate and velo keeps declining.

What's the velocity at this spring? Remember he had surgery on the knee...maybe he's still getting back to full strength....I thought fixing the knee and losing weight was going to allow him to up his velocity...

I've seen 64, 72, 77 and there was a fastball at 80. I believe the homer that he gave up was also a fastball.
