But pay Bautista what he wants. Holy f***!!

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Last year we signed Johan Santana, Chris Dickerson, Dayan Viciedo, Randy Wolf, Jeff Francis, Phil Coke, Luke Scott, Ramon Santiago, Luis Perez, Andy Dirks, Albers, Kalish, Barton, Fox, Lopez, Gindl, Peguero, Copeland, ... I think you get the point. Not even counting Hendriks, Colabello, Carrera, Valencia. We traded for Valencia from KC deadline 2014 didn't we? We were struggling to hit LHP which seems bizarre now. Speaking of him I didn't believe the stuff Wilner tweeted about him being a bad presence in the clubhouse. But a friend of mine met with AA just after christmas. He said AA was very candid and never stops talking. AA told him that he was, compared to Cola, a very negative influence. Always talking contract terms etc etc and not in a positive way. Thought that was interesting.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 He's not going to make the roster if he's trash... Thank you If he makes the team it's because he looks good and should be worth the $

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Seems like a little too much for a guy who's probably trash now. 750 k if he makes the team is not insignificant With our bullpen shaping up right now, and with the possibility that we might shift some out-of-option starters that don't make the rotation into the pen (alla Vilueneva, Estrada) if he makes the team he'd be worth the 750$K. He has to battle I doubt the org will let him just have the spot
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Sorry to correct you but a career minor leaguer dreams of making 500K/yr... Pretty sure you meant MLB league min player. No need to correct, I knew exactly what I was saying. My thoughts were solely about the Jays not worrying about dropping an extra 250k if Soriano makes the team instead of a career minor league reliever. And if Soriano shows enough to make the 'pen, then he should make the 'pen. It never once occurred to me about the feeling a minor leaguer would get making the majors and earning 500k.
