Sportsnet had a article last season on Lawire saying how ready he was for the season and then got traded for Donaldson.

They had one for Saunders a few days ago and now he is getting traded.

 

I don't know why, but I find it funny.

Guys.. Believe it or not, there is value in having a legit 25-30 HR threat added to your line up, regardless of the weak wRC+. 26 HR & 35 doubles from the left side will add more overall value than Saunders could provide. Paying no more than $5Mil for Bruce would be an upgrade, imo. A legit power LHB batting sixth or seventh will make the line up better on several aspects. This should only be viewed as a 2016 move.

 

Except, it won't. Not unless the other aspects of his offense improve or revert back to 2010-2013. Bruce was terrible in 2014 and 2015

You'll need to do a better job than that of explaining the value the Bruce would provide that isn't captured by WAR.

 

easy - 2010 and 2013 Bruce averaged a 5 WAR - so every three seasons he's great - 2016 follows the statistical Jay Bruce Precedent!! ;)

Only reason this makes an ounce of sense is if they think they can fix him. Maybe theres merit to the idea, Jacoby was his hitting coach in Cinci.

I'd imagine the prospect(s) are from the Angels. No worry whatsoever that we're going to give up anyone of substantial value if this trade goes through.

Injuries in 2014, 2015 showing signs of old self. Worth the gamble for Saunders plus $2Mil.

From August 1 to Aug 4 of last year Bruce had a .333 AVG / 167 wRC+.

Saunders had 0 for both....

Or if there's another deal coming of some sort. This has made me lose a lot of confidence in Shatkins.
