He's allowed to drop him early, that just means he dropped Ortiz. He can't pick up Ortiz without dropping the placeholder in the same transaction. No policing required.

No it was his keeper pick so should be treated as such, placeholder will not be allowed to be stashed as NA.

There's a difference between a player who has stated no intention to stop playing Major League baseball versus one who had a f***ing retirement tour the season when he announced his retirement and has never hinted at anything else. Eovaldi is a completely different situation and should be handled appropriately.

 

But whatever, if FS inexplicably wants to waste a roster spot on Ortiz then sure, who cares.

It's simple. FrenchSoup maintains his claim on Ortiz, and isn't allowed to use his N/A spot next year.

If at some point, he decides to rescind his claim on Ortiz, then he can use his N/A spot again.
