BTS Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Abom, I think it's time to cut your losses on Appel.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Abom, I think it's time to cut your losses on Appel. Nope, not this offseason anyway. I've regretted not waiting long enough on guys before. I'd rather wait too long than see him bust out on someone else's roster.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Over Heaney? I'd kinda like to trade one or more of the people I mentioned and keep both. Not sure how many SP I want to hold either. With calling Manaea up after the draft, I'd be looking at 9 with Heaney.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Sorry, how many keepers and prospects again? I've seen some teams post 19, others post 21 or 22. Thanks!

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 My squad is looking like this: C- Willson Contreras (via promotion) 1B- Joey Votto 2B- SS- Zack Cozart 3B- Alex Bregman (via promotion) CF- AJ Pollock OF- Ian Desmond OF- Josh Reddick UTIL- David Peralta BN- Trayce Thompson BN- Travis Jankowski SP1- Jon Lester SP2- Johnny Cueto SP3- Zack Greinke SP4- Jharel Cotton SP5- Brock Stewart SP6- Rubby de la Rosa RP1- Carter Capps RP2- Cam Bedrosian RP3- Cory Knebel RP4- Blake Treinen RP5- Felipe Rivero/Derek Law/Liam Hendriks (undecided) Cuts: Ubaldo, Jace Peterson, Adonis Garcia, Adam Liberatore, Andre Ethier, Tommy Pham MiLB Brendan Rodgers Yadier Alvarez Ian Happ Conner Greene Kyle Lewis Harrison Bader Erick Fedde Braxton Garrett Josh Ockimey Max Povse Isan Diaz 2B is a black hole, and I'd love to move one of my three SP horses in a deal centered around a good hitting prospect close to ready, preferably at SS. All my relievers are available and SP depth is thin. 19 MLB and 13 prospects past the cut unless something changes.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 You need some Dee Gordon in your life. Nobody needs Dee Gordon in a 20-team league.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 You need some Dee Gordon in your life. Dee's shelf life is short. Doesn't fit my timeline. Potential for a three way perhaps.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Nobody needs Dee Gordon in a 20-team league. He's super underrated and was a Top 40 player in this format in 2015. Deploy him strategically and you can win SB almost every single week without destroying your ratios. I wouldn't want to roll with him every day due to diminishing returns, but he's a very dangerous weapon to have at your disposal. Don't forget, it's not just SB, he also excels greatly in the H category, where singles are as good as homers. And he's a good bet for 90+ R. He's very strong in 3 categories and only hurts you in SLG.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 32 total, up to 22 on the MLB roster. Thanks, so if I keep lets say 20 on my MLB roster, I could keep 12 prospects? If I keep 19 on my MLB roster with 10 prospects, would I get extra waiver picks during the draft lets say?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 If I keep 19 on my MLB roster with 10 prospects, would I get extra waiver picks during the draft lets say? It's a minimum 20 MLB, isn't it?

Yeah and since's he at 2B, he isn't that bad in a format that doesn't count .OBP as a scoring category.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 March 1st is the cutdown ya birds... KEEPER RULES On March 1st prior to the rule 5 Draft (March 7) – teams must trim their MLB rosters down. Teams can roster a maximum of 32 total players through the cut down with a maximum of 22 MLB and 14 MiLB being allowed. For example, teams can decide to keep 22 of their MLB players but would only be allowed to carry 10 MiLB. If teams choose this setup their redundant waiver picks will dissolve. If teams acquire more than 12 prospects via trade or draft then they can cut down to a minimum 18 MLB players and carry a maximum of 14 prospects through the cut down period but will be required to cut down to a maximum of 12 prospects before the July MiLB draft. Trades between the cut date and the Rule 5 Draft need to have equal numbers of MLB players + waiver picks on both sides, to ensure each team exits the Rule 5 Draft with 25 players. After the season has concluded and prior to the Cut Date, roster size (both MLB and MiLB) is unlimited. Owners may acquire as many MLB & MiLB players via trade as they wish, so long as their rosters are cut down to the maximum allowable size by mid-February. No free agents may be picked up via the Yahoo database after the conclusion of the playoffs until the conclusion of the Rule 5 Draft.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Yeah and since's he at 2B, he isn't that bad in a format that doesn't count .OBP as a scoring category. He's one year removed from a .359 OBP. He could very well get back around .330 with some BABIP regression. If he can get his OPS up over .700 and play a full season, he's a slam dunk Top 100 player in this format. Hits are the category that nobody thinks about, but it's a category that benefits him more than most players. I also don't think most owners are aware of quite how scarce SB have become. That's an H2H category that most people are happy to punt, but with a 50 SB guy at your disposal it's a free win almost every week.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 It's a minimum 20 MLB, isn't it? 18.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 18. Thanks. Kind of deceptive though, because don't you have to cut down from 14 to 12 prospects by the time the MiLB draft happens?

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I think I might own AJ Ramos in this league after a trade with French Soup? The rosters weren't updated in the Google doc.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Is Mike Montgomery keeper worthy?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Is Mike Montgomery keeper worthy? I'm going to say yes. His velo and SwStr % ticked up significantly this year, and at the very least he'll be an SP-eligible RP, which is always nice.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 March 1st is the cutdown ya birds... The email that was sent around a few days ago said the cut deadline is Feb 12, draft 20th.
