He's been interesting the last month or so, and is now a slightly above average hitter on the season. I think he at least won't murder my OBP like Fowler and Brinson have been. Also I've just totally lost any faith in Alford as a prospect and wanted to free up roster spots.

Freeing up space is necessary from time to time unfortunately. I'm facing the same decision with Altherr, who I really don't want to give up on but may have to. I guess I just feel like Heyward, now that he's hitting for little power and middling average, and not stealing bases, doesn't really help in fantasy anymore. Even if Alford is very risky as a prospect now, it seems like someone would have given you something better for him. Maybe not, dunno.

If by lofty standards, you mean a basic understanding of the sport they are covering and/or above grade 1 level English, then yes, they sadly fall short.
