when is yahoo back up? I need to start building my list of young high upside guys for the waiver draft

 

A lot of them will probably be from cuts, which won't happen until the cutdown date.

That's going to be a pretty small list lol

 

nah, i've already got some guys on it

 

part of my rebuild strategy is to fill my MLB roster with young high upside guys that have underperformed to date.... out of 12 or something, 3-4-5 should break out to be stars

 

with picks 2, 17, 23 - should pick up some good ones

Not exactly. He said it opened on Jan. 26th last year, implying it could open for registration any day now. He's right, although I just finished checking the Yahoo message boards and a release date is yet to be announced.

We'll all have the rosters we finished with last year. Before the waiver draft and after the cut down, we'll select keepers (guys we didn't trade away and want to keep), and commishes will add the others. Then the waiver draft will consist of adding guys from free agency.

sounds easy enough. and position eligibility is updated based on last year? or is position eligibility updated throughout the season?

Both. Eligibility to start 2018 will be based on 2017 (5 starts or 10 games at a position), but positions can be added throughout the season if a player meets those thresholds.

how do you guys value waiver picks? 1st round waiver pick ~ 2nd round MILB pick?

 

Really different for everyone. IMO the top 2 or 3 waiver picks may be 1st round MiLB pick level depending on who is available, but then after that there tends not to be a lot of talent differentiation in the waiver draft.

You should take a lot at previous waiver drafts on the league spreadsheet to get a feel for them
