Schimpf slugged .300+ at various levels, in various seasons. He played important positions. He walked a lot and didn't strike out an egregious amount.

 

The mistake was labelling him an org/utility player. A massive but not uncommon scouting failure.

I think everyone understands that the odds are against Glasnow becoming a front-rotation starter. He's probably not going to harness his stuff and he's probably not going to learn a changeup - A Francisco Liriano type starter career or high end bullpen arm are not unlikely outcomes though. And then there's the chance that he does pull the Aaron Sanchez and figure out how to command his pitches.
