Laika Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Just put Crawford at 2nd Doesn't really matter. I'm not taking Nola over Crawford just because of positional need I think Aaron Nola is super scuzzy.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I don't think any of this is even debatable tbh I'd probably take Darvish over Hamels. I think you could make a reasonable argument for Keuchel or Springer over Correa too depending on need, although I'd probably go with Correa myself.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I think you could make a reasonable argument for Keuchel or Springer over Correa too depending on need no fcking way dawg
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Ehh. Give me Hamels. racist
Frag Verified Member Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 AL East: Blue Jays: Josh Donaldson Yankees: Michael Pineda Red Sox: David Price (Can make an argument for Betts or Boegarts) Rays: Chris Archer Orioles: Manny Machado

Their farm is a lot sexier.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 We could actually make this into an interesting competition each year. Everyone has to select one player from each team (and having to fill each position), and the person at the end of the year who accumulates the most WAR wins.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 BJ Upton? Sorry, forgot Upton was a FA. Myers or Ross over Shields.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Sorry, forgot Upton was a FA. Myers or Ross over Shields. OK, just thought you might be a really big Melvin Upton fan
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Same task. Can't go over $150M All replaced Blue Jays are still under contract. Try to get the Jays up to Cubs Depth Chart projections
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Baseball version of f***, marry, kill. Rent 10 year contract Sell to the KBO Orioles: Rent Jones 10 year contract to Machado Send Tillman to the KBO. Seriously, f*** Chris Tillman. Bonus: Kill Mark Trumbo

Try to get the Jays up to Cubs Depth Chart projections $18m available? Arrieta - 10 Marte - 3 Arcia - MiLB Wacha - .5? Hamilton - .5 Or if you extend it to $155m, you take Carpenter from the Cards and Iglesias from the Reds.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Yes, I'm taking this from Bluebird Banter, but I thought it was a fun exercise. As well, I know that the offseason isn't over and more transactions will be done. Anyway, it goes as follows: If you could take one player off each team within each division and put him on the Jays, who would you pick? For example, of the 5 teams in the AL Central, which 5 players from each team would you want to roster on the Jays. Future value would be something to consider. Take into consideration the players already on the Jays roster. Bonus question: If you had a choice of taking one player off of each NL Central team or 5 players off of the Chicago Cubs, which would you choose? If salary doesn't matter, one from each team. Taking Bryant out of the equation, (McCutchen, Votto, Carpenter, Braun) > (Heyward, Arrieta, Rizzo, Russell) in my opinion.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 $18m available? Arrieta - 10 Marte - 3 Arcia - .5 Wacha - .5? Hamilton - .5 Or if you extend it to $155m, you take Carpenter from the Cards and Iglesias from the Reds. I was thinking Harper $7.5M - 6.0 fWAR upgrade on Revere Degrom or Syndergaard $600K - 3.2 fWAR upgrade on #5 starter Jose Fernandez $2.2M - 3.8 over Dickey Luis Garcia $600K - 0.5 over Biagini Freddy Freeman $12M 2.9 over Smoakabello I cheated and went over budget by a about $5M
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I'll go tough Rent -Mikael Franco 10 Yr - JP Crawford KBO - I'll assume that the KBO isn't buying Howard so I'll go Appel so we don't have to have my solid projections for his future to be proven wrong.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I'd go Blue Jays: Donaldson Yankees: Tanaka, maybe Gardner Sox: Betts Rays: Archer or Kiermaier, depending on what you take from Yankees (probably prefer Tanaka/Kiermaier) Orioles: Machado I would take Severino over Gardner.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Rays: Rent Kiermaier 10 year Archer Sell Jennings Can also just stick with current board themes and do a normal FMK f*** - Kiermaier Marry - Archer Kill - Erasmo Ramirez

Nafro Verified Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Brewers: Jonthan Lucroy Cardinals : Alex Reyes Cubs : Kris Bryant Pirates : Gerritt Cole Reds : Joey Votto
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 This has so much potential as a thread Alex Reyes over, like, Carpenter/Wong/Waino is v questionable
Nafro Verified Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 This has so much potential as a thread Alex Reyes over, like, Carpenter/Wong/Waino is v questionable Fair enough, but I went off the board. I already had a third baseman by taking Bryant, so that eliminated Carpenter, I have concerns about Waino's health. I really don't like Kolten Wong for some reason. If its for one season I take Wainright, or Carpenter and play Carpenter at second. If its for the next five years, I take Reyes. (also taking in consideration salary, value)
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Answering the initial question: I'd probably take five from the NLC over five from just the Cubs: Bryant and Rizzo would be killer if you go with the Cubs, but going with Votto and Cutch is probably just as effective since it opens up a tandem of Arrieta + Wainwright (assuming health). Obvious Brewer is Braun. The Cubs are f***ing good but I don't think so good that I wouldn't prefer the superstars from their four rivals. Votto replaces Smoakabello. McCutcheon replaces Pillar (sorry Kevin). Wainwright and Arrieta replace Dickey and uh... Happ? Braun replaces Revere. The rest of the offensive Blue Jay studs remain. Easy. IMO it comes down to not wanting to neutralize top-tier 3B value by making a logjam with JD-Bryant. Edited December 17, 2015 by intentional wok
