TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I feel like I have to keep Niese in the DDL now though.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Release the Niese! Pittsburgh is smart. They see the value of Jon.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 awful deal for Pittsburgh imo getting a groundball pitcher away from the Mets Defense can't hurt.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Is there any reason every team who is even a little bit interested in Maeda shouldn't bid the max posting fee for him? There's no risk, because you only have to pay the posting fee if you sign him. One would think so.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Niese will be good in Pittsburgh.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I'm sure Searage will work wonders with him, but I don't think they needed to give up Walker for him
Sorrow Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Searege probably turns Niese into a 6+ win pitcher, the magician that he is.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 This Searage guy is just getting credit for the work of the analytics group, IMO.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The Pirates infield is a horrific mess. With Kang out, it's basically Jordy Mercer, Josh Harrison, Francisco Cervelli, and what, Mike Morse? No 3B to speak of. Maybe they call up Hanson and use Harrison at 3rd? Barf.

I thought Kang would probably miss only 1-2 months of 2016?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The Pirates ownership suxxxxxxx. All about the payroll parameters.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I thought Kang would probably miss only 1-2 months of 2016? I could have sworn he's out til the ASB. Maybe not.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I could have sworn he's out til the ASB. Maybe not. Likely June, but how he recovers and plays moving forward is in question.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 This Searage guy is just getting credit for the work of the analytics group, IMO. What? Happ was nothing before hin
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Likely June, but how he recovers and plays moving forward is in question. Definitely. I thought he was playing a bit over his head anyway, but a bum knee can really impact all facets of his game.
43211234 Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I agree this deal seems a win for the Mets but it's not as if it's disastrous for the Bucs. Niese isn't exactly in suxxxxxx territory.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Man, the PR is going to take a hit, people in Pittsburgh love this guy, lol. Par for the course, I guess.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 What? Happ was nothing before hin He's saying the analytics guys told Searage to get him to throw his heater more because it's his most effective pitch.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Pirates are probably in on Howie Kendrick now.
Nafro Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Could be the 10 of his 18 seasons winning 88 or more games, including 100 twice...and 1484-1286 for his career and 931-850 for the past 10 years isn't basically .500. I don't understand what's happened in the past couple years. Maybe having all the people poached from his front office has revealed a personal weakness and it was the full system that was the success and not the man himself. Doubt that though It's The Curse of the Moneyball movie!
Nafro Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Alright, since I haven't seen any reports of what's been offered. Let's guess who the Astros use to get Giles. My guess is Michael Feliz or Mark Appel, Daz Cameron, Preston Tucker and Akeem Bostick. Maybe even both Feliz and Appel.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Is that post suggesting Giles for Feliz/Appel+Cameron+Tucker+Bostick wat
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 JJ Cooper @jjcoop36 3m3 minutes ago Too early to say this is set in stone but two sources say Phillies will take Rays OF Tyler Goeddel No. 1 in tomorrow's Rule 5 draft.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Another bit of Gibby embarassment Seriously that guy is a beauty. Not one f*** was given today.

Jayson Stark @jaysonst 58s59 seconds ago Source says Astros & Phillies have talked about a package for Ken Giles that would center around Vincent Velazquez, plus 2 more prospects
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Doesn't seem like the Stro's are having a great offseason.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
