spittin Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Did they actually sign Leake too? That seems like overkill Olney re-tweeted Leake didn't fit in to their budget, moments later they get Rekt for Miller.

SAAviour Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I feel our new front office is playing the relief market perfectly, let the big guys sign garbage contracts then when there are more pitchers then teams wanting them we pick 2 or 3 up on cheap one year deals.
OtisNixonFan Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Stammen on a cheap deal works for me. Petit is a nice no frills option as well. Still prefer Sipp to all.
flafson Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Funny part is, by those prices, Donaldson should net us the world.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 A's and White Sox are close to a deal that would send Brett Lawrie to Chicago
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 A's and White Sox are close to a deal that would send Brett Lawrie to Chicago Interesting. My guess is the cost won't be that high.
tpurewal97 Verified Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Interesting. My guess is the cost won't be that high. "Acquired from the Blue Jays in the Josh Donaldson deal last year, Lawrie was close to being moved to the White Sox for a pair of minor leaguers late Tuesday night. According to two big-league sources at the winter meetings, the teams were still discussing names for the return portion but the Lawrie part was essentially agreed upon. burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I really don't like what Beane is going. He says the market won't support a punt of 5 years but the Cubs and Astros have shown you can do a full rebuild in 3. Mediocrity doesn't keep the fans interested either which is exactly where the As are headed for the foreseeable future. I mean look at the Jays the last 20 years. Winning 80-84 games is the worst spot to be in. With the new scouting and IFA pool money being tied to a team's record the teams that have tanked and done full rebuilds look to be in the best position going forward. Astros, Cubs, even Phillies are in great positions because they did full rebuilds.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 When exactly did the Phillies begin their rebuild? Yeah I probably shouldn't have included them. In 3 years I think they will be like the Cubs/Astros of this year.

BTS Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 So many recent Oakland moves have looked/been awful, but I can't count how many times I've written them off and seen them win a lot of games. I'll be shocked if they're headed towards 4-5 years of losing. I'd only be mildly surprised if they won 88 games this year and made the WC game.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Lind to Mariners almost done apparently, Zunino not going to Brewers:

I have no real reason or justification for that, just a pick.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Orioles offer Davis 150/7 With numbers like that, Heyward should get 10 years.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Jamie Campbell is in the game!!! Jamie Campbell @SNETCampbell 54s54 seconds ago Can confirm Adam Lind to Mariners.
Governator Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Orioles offer Davis 150/7 With numbers like that, Heyward should get 10 years. I think it's a pretty fair deal imo. There's nothing wrong with a team giving a big offer to their star player from the past 4 years that ends shortly when you can expect his decline to hit. It's not like a 10 year $250MM contract till he's 40.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Chris Davis is the ultimate risk-reward free agent. 7.0 WAR - 2013 0.8 WAR - 2014 5.6 WAR - 2015 2.4 WAR - projection You're almost tempted to view his projection distribution as bimodal... I mean it feels like he's either going to be awesome or really suck, not something in between.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Lind for Carlos Herrera, Daniel Missaki, Freddy Peralta
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 John Axford to the A's. I thought he would've been a great buy low candidate. edit: for $1 million wtf Lacava/Atkins/Shapiro
