NL: Matt Harvey.

Great pick. No one expected him to be any good in 2015. What a surprise to see him rebound.

AL: Prince Fielder.

Another great pick. This guys has been terrible for years. Everyone was shocked to see him put up some good numbers for a change.

/sarcasm

These awards are becoming kind of a joke. One injury year, or one-off year, and you qualify for comeback player of the year?

I'm sure there's plenty of far more deserving candidates out there.

Should have been A-Rod. It's stupid to have players active in the league that aren't eligible to win any awards.

Coming back from a full season suspension isn't really in the spirit of the award, so I'm good with it. The award should be for players coming back from major injuries. f*** A-Rod.

Played 44 games in 2013 and looked finished, 0 games in 2014. Then put up a great season in 2015.

If that's not a "comeback", I don't know what is.

He played 0 games in 2014 because he was suspended for using steroids and lying about it. Coming back from that isn't something that should be rewarded or celebrated. His numbers were impressive, no one will dispute that.

He was absolutely dreadful before being suspended, comes back at age 40 and kicks it up a notch.

He had a major injury in 2013 and missed almost 2 full seasons of baseball...

I understand you hate the guy (I don't like him either) but you really can't make an argument for him not getting the award. Other than being blackballed by MLB for the steroid stuff.

Dmitri Young beat his girlfriend, took drugs and won in 07. Admittedly it was still cool to beat women back then

I already made a very compelling argument, one that the voters obviously agree with: this award is not for players returning from suspension.

Anyways the whole Arod suspension was shady as f*** in the first place. It just reeked of MLB trying to lend the yankees a helping hand. Their payroll was bloated like crazy in 2014 IIRC

If Arod had put up Barry Bonds 2004 numbers this year, would he have won the MVP award?

I don't agree. Past winners like Dmitri Young and Fernando Rodney didn't battle injuries and I think the awards were justified.

Meh, maybe I'm bias because of my spinal injury, but what Prince did this year and from the injury he came back from, is simply phenomenal.

I don't see why there should be much debate over the guys picked for the award.

Fernando Rodney basically went from being terrible to being an elite reliever overnight. I don't have a problem with the award going to s***** players who suddenly become extremely good. The point is that the award is not for players returning from suspension.

Of course he would, how do you get around numbers like that?

probably the best example would have been McGehee. Cut like 5 times and then a year in Japan.

Lol yeah, to think people would snub historically good numbers on a player who tests clean is just idiotic. Toothless argument if I've ever seen one.

We'd give you BJMB comeback poster of the year, but you'd get banned during your acceptance speech

I'd classify him as a breakout, not a comeback. The same could probably be said for Rodney's season. The should have a breakout player of the year award!
