Maine Jays Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Should we have high hopes for Rowdy down the road or is he in the Mike McDade mold?
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Should we have high hopes for Rowdy down the road or is he in the Mike McDade mold? Concerns - Size (fat, slow/poor baserunner) Defense (below avg defense at 1B) vs LHP? - struggled to hit LHP in 2015, .210/.234/.290 in 64 PA (very small sample) With poor baserunning, below average defense and possible struggle to hit LHP he might be limited to a platoon 1B type. Like Adam Lind. He's going to have to hit, and hit a lot to provide value. unrelated -Speaking of fat, Texas Rangers RHP Luis Ortiz is huge. Laika Community Moderator Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Nice! Rowdy goes from final vote candidate to cleanup hitter. Excited to see Sean Manaea a little bit too. East has some other interesting pitching with Ray Black, Burdi, and Freeland. Hopefully Girodo gets into the game. Also, Profar, Fisher, Nunez, and Frazier, obviously. Guys are good.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Why is Profar DH? I'm guessing it's related to the shoulder surgery he had in the spring.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Why is Profar DH? Probably being cautious with his shoulder; just want to get him some plate appearances.

King Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Tellez will lead off in bottom of the 2nd
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Manaea on point tonight Tellez leading off
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Manaea looks pretty filthy. Big lefty guy with a big fastball. Kind of from the David Price school of pitching tactics
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 hahahha wtf inside the park home run
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Jeff Moore @jeffmoore_5 10m10 minutes ago Tellez's ability to control the barrel & go the other way w/authority while still maintaining pull power is why I'm so enamored with his bat Joe Hamrahi @JHamrahi 4m4 minutes ago Joe Hamrahi Retweeted Jeff Moore This. Different player than a few years ago when drafted. Not pull happy anymore.
flafson Verified Member Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Pretty sure Lind wasn't as fat as Tellez is...
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Pretty sure Lind wasn't as fat as Tellez is... Didn't say that.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Pretty sure Lind wasn't as fat as Tellez is... Tellez is probably in better shape than Lind though, regardless of weight.
43211234 Verified Member Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I heard Lind added sit-ups to his workout regimen this offseason.
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 It's not that hard - just 20 minutes a day!
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 It's not that hard - just 20 minutes a day! You'll be shocked at the results!
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 His stance reminds me of less exaggerated Josh Hamilton
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Tellez up again vs Chaz Hebert
