AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 So far, Colabello is hitting .375 with a .400 OBP Despite that he's only scored twice, other than the time he hit himself home. Ben Revere is hitting .219 with a .242 OBP. But he's fast! So, obviously he has to be our first batter, getting more bats than anyone else on this team. I have to wonder how many extra runs we would have scored if Colabello was batting leadoff instead of Revere.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Maybe, but Gibby won't do it
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Should Bautista hit lead off?
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Probably not a good time to just drastically change the order. If anything, put Tulowhiffzki 9th.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Should Bautista hit lead off? Yep, if we're going down this path, our leadoff hitter should unquestionably be our guy who walks 100 times per season.

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 you are forgetting Goins can't hit. Well he fairs better against righties without much doubt. I wonder if Tulo strikes out in batting practice of late.

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Lol. Nice try. Go home your drunk. ? vs R: 92 wRC+ vs L: 58 wRC+ He faced all lefties against the Rangers... it's no real surprise he's had better at bats this series.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Bautista Donaldson Martin Edwin Tulo Cola/Smoak Revere Pillar Goins
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Bautista Donaldson Martin Edwin Tulo Cola/Smoak Revere Pillar Goins Edwin 3rd, Tulo 4th, Martin 5th. I believe that is the line up that would score the most runs. Basically just put them in order of career on base percentage. ** assuming Tulo producing at career rate, and assuming Bautista does not freak out over hitting lead off.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Yep, if we're going down this path, our leadoff hitter should unquestionably be our guy who walks 100 times per season. He started the season at leadoff way back in 2010 in part for that reason. Then he hit 54 HRs. This is never going to happen in the ALCS 2015.

Yeah, but then again, he's under the mistaken impression that you should put your best hitter in the 3-hole. He should really be batting either leadoff or cleanup, with JD batting 2nd and EE either 4th or 5th.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Bautista Donaldson Martin Edwin Tulo Cola/Smoak Revere Pillar Goins I was about to post the same thing, with Tulo and Cola/Smoak reversed.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I was about to post the same thing, with Tulo and Cola/Smoak reversed. I'd probably flip Revere and Pillar, or bat Revere 9th. It would be nice to have him on base for the power bats (when he gets on base) for the additional fastballs.

Drives me nuts. Really hope Revere....our resident hacker....can get it going the next 3 at home.

It would be nice to have him on base for the power bats (when he gets on base) for the additional fastballs. that's a fallacy. Revere only buys more fastballs if teams think he's ACTUALLY going to steal, but HE'S NOT STEALING, so that all goes out the window. why he isn't stealing is beyond me. a perfectly good weapon that Gibbons refuses to use. don't just have him steal second, have him steal third as well and if the other team wants to walk someone that just means more RBI chances for the jays.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 I would just bump Revere to 9th right now and move everyone else up in the order. If he gets on base then he sets up the big bats.
