Brans Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Seriously. He made a gravy pick at first with that nasty hop to keep that one inning for Estrada manageable. He also hit the ball hard what? 3 times tonight with one hit to show for it. Colas job to lose now. Against left handed pitching
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 s*** happens. I know Jays fans will be blaming umpires, and 'Murica, and everything else for the loss, but it was a 's*** happens' loss. Estrada pitched well enough to win, but it didn't happen. Move on to Game 2. Price needs to step up big time. Bring the series to Toronto tied at 1-1.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Tonight was the worst game the Jays have played in the playoffs so far. Did we even get a runner to 3rd base at all? There were some hard hit balls, but our big hitters did nothing in the 7th and 8th. Edwin probably doesn't play again until monday which sucks. I feel that it's crucial we win tomorrow's game. Don't wanna be down 2-0 in the series with the added pressure of playing 3 straight at home. Hopefully we play a solid game tomorrow.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 No. The guy said something to the effect of it only being 0-1 and they've shown they can come back from 0-2 so the team must not be too worried. Cola said, ya...I don't think we're trying to go down 0-3 and work a comeback like they had to in the last series. Ah, cheers for the clarification. Couldn't hear the reporter too well.
Brans Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 We would not have won our division without Smoak. He had so many key hits and homers for us. He is our only left handed bat with power. He also plays great defense. Texas was a bad match up because most of their starters are left handed. At the bottom of the lineup I will take that.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I"m not even mad at this game. Sometimes you just run into a red hot pitcher that has everything working. Volquez was that guy tonight. Try to get a good night sleep and try to get to Ventura tomorrow. Hope Price can channel his inner Price and dominate like Volquez did tonight.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Too Many right handed batters Best offense in baseball against both LHP and RHP.
Treeplant Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 These games happen. Too bad it got away, but not much to panic over. Jays were patient at times, got on base, had a couple of innings where they had a shot, didn't make it happen. Game 2 tomorrow. Let's see how Price does, hopefully he gets some early run support.
Brans Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Best offense in baseball against both LHP and RHP. Thats with mainly Smoak at first base.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Thats with mainly Smoak at first base. So Smoak is the straw that stirs this drink???? Good to know.

I don't think there's much any other lineups could have done with such pitching from Volquez/Royals' pen, they were pitching too well. Just not enough mistakes out over the plate (and ones that were hit hard were right at guys). We did our best to disrupt the timing and for the most part stayed patient at the plate (very important to keep this approach even when the team isn't hitting) but they never really cracked. When this happens you've just got to tip your cap and move on... at least it wasn't ourselves that made the game for them easier with panicky approach and silly mistakes like in the first two games of the Texas series, that's something that one can get mad about. Price will need to come through big tomorrow. Hope to see an ace-caliber game from him, something like a 7-8 innings with damage minimized to 2 runs or less.
drveets Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 these games happen? what planet are you on? at this point in the season every single game is important. we play arrogant baseball that is our problem. we believe at any moment we can hit a home run and that simply IS NOT REALITY in the post season. we looked like dog s*** tonight; even worse if words could describe. i sure hope edwin isn't hurt tomorrow, but either way i'm sick and tired of watching this team perform like sissys. this is pathetic.
Soft Hands Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 It was a frustrating game today but that'll happen every now and then. Just need to get them tomorrow.

Atlas Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Watching the game I can't say I really got excited at any point...just felt weird tonight. Definitely not frustrated by tonight's game....or disappointed by tonight's game.... ....but was more than bored by the whole thing. Was it just me?

Everyone on earth hates us? I'd like to think that most people have enough of a life to not care anything about us one way or another, and if not, that's pretty pathetic.

The team looked dead, hopefully someone checked them for a pulse. Only thing even remotely exciting was the Goins/Tulo DP.
Atlas Verified Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Call us arrogant...call the team arrogant....we'd say confident. We know what this talent can do. One thing is 100% clear though....no matters who wins the ALCS, they'll go into the WS the villain!
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I hope Bautista does another monster bat flip if he hits a homer off Ventura tomorrow lol.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 It'd be nice to string a few singles together! That game was just ... underwhelming. Pushed Volquez to the brink in the 6th but couldn't get the critical hit. Take 1 of the first 2 on the road and we're in business!

I was more frustrated that we couldn,t have played this game at home, and then maybe EE wouldn,t have his knuckle issues resurfacing because of the cold weather.. Other than that, the K zone was pretty consistent, and it has been for the past 4 games,in which we are 3-1. Hope EE can go Saturday, otherwise i think they should flip flop Cola ,and move Tulo down even further in the lineup.
