Gibbons is the one who needs to calm the f*** down. He's been overmanaging the s*** out of this game.

 

Not really. There's a clear message behind these moves and it all has to do with rest. The timing of bringing in Price was weird, but bringing him in period keeps him on a solid rotation set for Game 1 or 2 of the ALCS, depending on his pitch count today, and avoids him pitching on, what would be, an extended period of rest (8 days) once again.

 

And if you push him to Game 5 then he has to start Game 3 of the ALCS AND Stro would start Game 1 on 7 days rest.

 

This was a good move.

Gibbons needs to get Price out so he can pitch out of the bullpen in game 5.

 

The TV broadcasters gave an alarming fact (if true) that in game 5 of the ALDS the home team is 11-15 (which I assume means 11 wins and 15 losses?). I don't know why the visiting team would have such an advantage other then in the playoffs home field is not much of an advantage (especially if the teams are so evenly matched as to go to a game 5).

I think everyone knew all along it would be Hamels since he'd be on regular rest. Plus he's obviously much better than Gallardo.

If they win, he'll be happy and talk about how this team never gives up, we have great personnel and that's why we're never out of it...and he's glad he was able to keep the team in the game and let the offense do it's thing.
