Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 So in a do or die game you don't want our best possible option pitching if absolutely needed? Weird. Great management by Gibby tonight, get Price up to throw his usual side session between starts and he's ready in case things get dicey in a must-win game. Same will happen with Stro tomorrow (and rightfully so) Stroman is an absolute go because he won't being pitching game 5. Plus tomorrow is more important then game 5

Plus tomorrow is more important then game 5 If Price doesn't have it again, it would be nice to have Stroman ready for Game 5 as well. Do what you need to do to win game 4, but let's see what happens in the game before we pencil in who's pitching tomorrow, after The Dick.

Yeah, it's an unfortunate situation but we can only take it game by game at this point and all hands have to be on deck...
SAAviour Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Why is Sstroman not pitching game 5? Sorry I only read a few posts in here... Doesn't it make sense to go dickey for 3-5 innings, followed by Price, then the stro show in the dome for game 5?
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Price Wtf? I'm confused... isn't Price in the bp now?
ComeTogether Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Wtf? I'm confused... isn't Price in the bp now? Sounds like Stroman will back up Dickey if things don't go smooth. Price is set for game 5.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I like the idea of giving Stroman the ball instead of Price tomorrow and locking in Price for game 5 if we go that direction
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 we deserve to lose How did we deserve to lose when we were getting s***** f***ing luck up until that point over everything else?

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I like the idea of giving Stroman the ball instead of Price tomorrow and locking in Price for game 5 if we go that direction Pretty smashed right now but I thought that was the idea? Price throw his pen session today, only use him if needed. Now Dickey for game 4 and Stroshow coming out of the pen to follow Dickey if needed.

The update I just heard, said Price ready out of the pen tomorrow as well as Stroman. Could be a complete toss up.

Treeplant Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 How many people here actually want Dickey to start? I like the idea of Dickey being treated as a true starter. Period. End sentence. I don't like the move from a gut feeling about winning Game 4 perspective, Dickey in Game 4 makes me really nervous and I think there's a sizeable chance our playoffs are over tomorrow, but I like Dickey pitching Game 4 from a winning a World Series perspective. If we're going to win a World Series we need Dickey and trying to cut him out of the rotation to use Stroman/Price in Games 4/5 sends the message we don't trust him and screws up his rest cycle to the point where who knows what happens when he starts. If we're so high on Stroman and distrustful of Price that we'll try to squeeze Stroman into Game 4 ahead of Price (as has been suggested), I think we're making moves out of fear/mistrust of the guys we will absolutely need to win a World Series. We tell Price/Dickey we don't trust them in this series and we create a pitching soap opera for the next series that I don't possibly see ending well. Price is our ace, our Cy Young candidate. Dickey has pitched good ball to end the season as much as we all fear a blow-up knuckleballer outing. We think Stroman and Estrada can anchor us in the middle of our rotation: Great, that gives us a World Series shot. They can't win the rest of the games to a World Series between them, we need Price and Dickey. Dickey starts Game 4. Price starts Game 5. We make it through this series with that and we've put our major playoff demons to bed, ended the idiotic losing/confidence funk we sunk into to end the season where we gave up on the AL crown, and play the type of Jays ball we saw in August hopefully. My two cents at least.

CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Price himself said it in the post-game interview Thanks, I only have MLB TV so I didn't see the post game interviews.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I have no problem with Dickey tomorrow, he pitched up to his cy young title in the second half.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 I like the idea of giving Stroman the ball instead of Price tomorrow and locking in Price for game 5 if we go that direction Why? Price out of the bullpen is more valuable to us than stroman out of the bullpen. and its not like Stroman was slouching in his game 2 start.
DickeyJohnsonWang Verified Member Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 if there is a game 5 i want stroman pitching it. he is going to be the face of the franchise for years to come, give him the ball, not Price who will probably be gone. Also think that Dickey-Price is a more lethal combo if we're piggybacking Dickey tomorrow.

This. Hard to to be too critical of Dickey start - he was very good in the second half. Saying that if he struggles early I hope Gibbons is quick to act. Ideally he gives us a a solid 6-7 innings and we can have Price for game 5 but all that matters is that there is a game 5.
