Actually my son was out in a bar in Tampa last month and some girl approached him bc he had his Bichette jersey on. Anyways, she was talking about how she used to date a Jays player and she had the pics on her phone.. it was Biggio… I feel like she has a lot riding on his career. If he doesn’t stick in the bigs the story is pretty weak

My favorite part of this story about minor league housing is the following:

"In mid-September, owners from the league's 30 teams agreed unanimously to a plan that would provide housing for certain minor league players, the league said in a statement. Whether they will offer stipends that fully cover housing or provide the lodging itself has yet to be decided, sources said.

Certain players? Not all?

Story of my life bro. Can’t turn it off lol

Try weed. A good indica strain will shut those voices off real good. Sativa on the other hand and you're probably going to jail.

I dunno, would make no sense to provide housing for some players but not all. Like, what really would be the difference in a player's minor league contract status? All of them are under contract to the minor league team they play for, and by extension the Jays.

Maybe it's the type of contracts they are signed to that matter. Like, in the upper minors there's gonna be a lot of guys that are on the 40 man roster that are just in AAA or AA, so maybe their housing situation would be different than those that are strictly on minor league deals.

Perhaps it's all voluntary? Like, it's provided if they want it?

Also, wouldn't the simplest solution be to buy out a small apartment building near the stadium, or build a campus of some kind? Hell, there are always motels up for sale.

Or they could - you know - pay them more so they can simply afford their own housing.

It wouldn’t be that different than oil companies paying for housing for their rig workers that get flown in to work for 6 months at a time. Those guys make tons of money but still get housing paid for a lot of the time due to a variety of factors

Just to clarify, it was MLB that announced they would provide housing for 'some' of the minor leaguers. I assume it's the Owners who agreed to this and are paying for it and not MLB correct? Seems a bit unlikely that all Owner agreed to the hassle of becoming landlords for all these players - but I guess we'll see.

Apparently MLB expected the PA to request this in the upcoming CBA negotiations, and, although I can't imagine it was too high on the list, MLB decided to jump ahead of this and announce they would provide it ahead of those negotiations it can't be used as leverage.

True, but it would be cheaper and more efficient for the team to do it for them. Would also be a lot easier for in-season promotions etc if they owned places that their players used. And it would allow players to go home during the off season without being stuck in a lease.

Yeah that all makes sense. It will be interesting to see what comes of this. Will teams start buying s***** motels or condo's and fixing them up? I mean I guess they could rent them to others during the offseason to help offset costs. I just have to imagine that some of these Owners aren't thrilled at having to deal with this.

A lot of industries face similar issues. Up where I live, there's absolutely nothing for rent right now and prices to buy anything have skyrocketed. This is creating a huge issue for the local ski hills and seasonal work industries. I think some have bitten the bullet and bought up housing for their staff while others let them fend for themselves.

Also you can establish stuff like a team curfew and make sure there’s no parties with slutty girls!

Actually I know the independent baseball team in my area does this after they lost their flag (mlb affiliation)

More Gabby Moreno praise from the latest BA Arizona Fall League preview podcast

Another quote:

"Every review we got back from (indicating Moreno) to be an all-star, perennial all-star, or even better than that. I could not fathom the things that coming out of scouts. One of the quotes from the scout I got was it's not a question of whether Moreno is going to be All-Star, it's the amount of All-Star games he's going to make by the time he hits 30"

Along with many examples of c-pee using sexist language.

Slutty girls is not, itself, a sexist statement. If there were some implication that all girls were slutty, that would qualify for sure. I'm sure the team isn't overly worried about the team having parties with nothing but slutty men present.

Clearly you should pick your spots better amigo…

Also are you afraid to double down on Belly?

Team context matters. Belly made sense in BORED, doesn't in BBDL.

What happened to working out something Fried for Lux+?
