gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I think it can be said that Vinny Capra should be put on late bloomer radar. Interesting player to keep an eye on.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 I should ask this here... Is MILB TV worth it, 2 more days no ball has me breaking? Plus I'll use it a lot? Also can I speak to a rep? If I use the 10 day does that come off a sub? Anyone know? Thanks in advance.
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Is Orelvis' strikeout rate too high?
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Is Orelvis' strikeout rate too high? Yes it definitely is, but he's still very young for his level. Only 19. He's not striking out like Conine or Gallo, so I think he should be able to work on this in the OS.
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Seems to be troubled by outside pitches

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Is Orelvis' strikeout rate too high? I dont believe so. If it stays this high continuously then it will be a bit on the high side. Looking at players ranked higher than him at the same level and age you can see somewhat similar K rates. 27.5% for Orelvis, 23.8% for Soderstrom, and 21.3% for Luciano. Similar extra base hits as Soderstrom and same avg and extra base hits as Luciano. This is Orelvis' first full season, only played rookie ball, while Luciano got to short season A ball in 2019 for a few games. I think its just a bit of an adjustment period for Orelvis. Hopefully he can bring it back down to 20% the rest of the year. He is having a really solid year so far imo
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Will you stop this s***! Please! ??? Are you drunk again?

InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Any word on Samad's absence from the lineup since the 4th of July?
metafour Verified Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Orelvis Martinez just homered again. #10 on the season.
InvincibleTiger Verified Member Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Orelvis just hit his 2nd HR of the night!
RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 first real hot streak of Orelvis's this year. 5 homers already in July.
spats Verified Member Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Orelvis just hit his 2nd HR of the night! Time to move him up to High A.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 I still think Otto Lopez turns out to be much better than most are expecting. Will be interesting to see how he does at AAA
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 I still think Otto Lopez turns out to be much better than most are expecting. Will be interesting to see how he does at AAA So then what is your projection for him? You think he's going to be a league average starter?
metafour Verified Member Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 I still think Otto Lopez turns out to be much better than most are expecting. Will be interesting to see how he does at AAA He's a real prospect, ultimately it will come down to how much they can do with his swing to get him to hit the ball on the ground less (which is what they're working on with him). He's one of those guys who with a successful swing adjustment could tap into completely unexpected upside because his feel for hitting is really good.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 So then what is your projection for him? You think he's going to be a league average starter? Yeah, could potentially be slightly above average 2B. He has 20 2Bs and 3 homers and is still very small. If they can get some more muscle and improve his numbers overall increasing his launch angle I think he will be one to watch. How he adjusts and how he fares once he gets to AAA will be telling
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Anyone know what's up with FG and not having rookie ball stats in player profiles for 2021? The stats display if you click on the player's game logs, but that doesn't even show their correct wRC+.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Zac Veen is up to 26 SB's in 56 games. Didn't see that in his game when we were jerking off to his batting practice videos before the draft last year. I think most projected he'd move off CF pretty early as he didn't have great speed. I wonder if that's changed a bit.

RustyTrombone Verified Member Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Anyone have anything on this dude on Vancouver. Names Adrian Hernandez and hes K'd 67 in 37.1 innings.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 The answer is that stealing bases in the lower minors is easy. Even Vlad was doing it You mean the 6 SBs that Vlad stole in 71 games in A ball? Orelvis has 2 SBs this year. He must be the equivalent to Kendrys Morales I guess. But yes, I know it's easier to steal in the lower minors and yes I'd forgotten about the rule changes to promote it all. I just doubt anyone thought Veen would be at 4 HRs and 26 SBs in his first season.
