Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 We're stupid for having Alford #1. Clearly he should be #103.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 How different do you fellas think the BA listing's are now... Baseball America: Jays top-10 TOP 10 PROSPECTS 1. Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 What happened to this guy... I liked his posts... I was under the impression that though numbers are "king" in player evaluation, in small sample sizes even the more analytically inclined place more emphasis on scouting reports and mechanics analysis because of the lack of inference available.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 DJ Davis shouldn't have been near the top 20 Agreed... he suxxxxxx... even then.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 You kids do have to lay off the early stat scouting... they could be dealing with new mechanics, 1 pitch, in any given game. I thought you knew this s*** King? Here here. I do stat scouting myself to fill in the blanks, but many use it simply to protect themselves from being wrong. How many times have we seen people say 'nobody could have predictes this' when a talented prospect breaks out. More than I can count, that's for sure.

"I don't think it will be. The lead amateur scouting guys like Tinnish and Parker are still here and they have had a long run of successful drafts. If Shapiro wasn't impressed with what they have done, they probably wouldn't still be here. I think the most major change is that we will keep most of our prospects instead of trading them." Whoops! This is all Shapiro's team Grant, many changes have happened, eye opening moves from the baseball community.

I just don't like how many people write off traditional scouting as old school nonsense (like they did with Sanchez). I prefer a more balanced approach. Guess I was wrong on Shapiro liking what the draft staff had done, lol. He cleaned house pretty quickly.

Yeah, he did, not only that he let Sanchez and co... freelance back to there regular mechanics. Do what works(with a bit of tweaking)... stepping high was a massive injury about to happen.

Like what Shapiro has done with the organizational structure of having set departments with different AGMs running different parts of the franchise.

Not to contradict you, but I recently read an interview with Atkins where he said that Cherington would be a jack of all trades. “I call him on a very regular basis on every front. And he’ll be involved in all of our offseason strategy, he’ll be involved in our draft, he’ll be involved in the international process. I’d imagine he’ll help negotiate contracts.”
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Baseball America is blowing the s*** out of Bo Bichette. Wouldn't surprise me if he comes out in December in the top two of the Jays rankings. They ranked him number 2 for power from the 2016 draft class (behind Kyle Lewis) and ranked him number 1 among the high school debuts. Gave him 3rd closest to the Majors among the high schoolers as well.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 I had Smoral in my top 20 #oops
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 man Matt Smoral has been a non factor for a couple of years now. It's like he fell of the planet with his s***** pitching What I saw was a huge southpaw with good stuff who had the potential to shoot up the system as a reliever if he was able to harness his control, which he's never been able to do. Then again you have Alford ranked outside your top 100 haha so I shouldn't really feel the need to justify my choices to you.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 And Pendleton, I don't know you, I don't want to know you you are one of those guys people talk to about baseball or the blue jays and laugh at you cause you don't know anything about the blue jays or the game. You just like to talk out your ass as well You had a cute little run there where people pretended to take you seriously but the novelty has worn off.
mikebel111 Verified Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 You had a cute little run there where people pretended to take you seriously but the novelty has worn off. This post is very accurate!!!! Not many facts have been said before this post.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 FACT is that I know more about the blue jays then you two put together. And more about baseball period. And more about the blue jays prospects then you two jack asses will ever know. So take that to the bank. And that king guy also knows more about the jays then you will ever know. Still get figure out will they let you on here. Hi Todd. What do you think of Bo Bichette? Baseball America gave him a bunch of love recently, do you see him being the #1 prospect anytime soon?

mikebel111 Verified Member Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Todd's insults are pure comedy. Maybe its a technique to help feel better about himself. If only I had popcorn.
