TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I am thinking of buying season tickets for next year even though I only plan on going to about 5-10 games. I figure I can sell the tickets for slightly more than I paid for them on stubhub, and in the end get cheaper and better seats for the games I go to, as well as first crack at playoff tickets should they make it in 2016. Do any of you have season tickets? If so, have any of you ever had issues selling your tickets on stubhub? Do the Jays do anything to prevent season ticket holders from doing this? Thanks.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Can you afford the risk if you can't sell them? You're only going to 5-10 games? Might as well just go for a flex pack.

For season tickets, I'd go at least half in with someone or even 3 people. 81 games is a lot of home games, and if you plan on going to only 5-10, its not really worth it. Sometimes its even tough to get rid of tickets (especially if the team does poorly). If you were going to get a pair of season tickets, 500 levels are probably your best option. At least you can easily resell them at $10 or cheaper on Stubhub to weeknight games against crummy teams, and its easy to make a profit during a premium weekend game. Even if you end up eating some tickets, you wouldn't feel that bad since those seats are cheap to begin with. As well with season tickets (not sure if they do this anymore) you can trade in your tickets up to 25 times I believe for other games. So for example, if it was a weeknight game against the Rays and you wanted to get some extra tickets vs. the Yankees (in a similar area to your season tickets), they can do that during a trade in. Then it would be easier to resell those premium games instead.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Probably not worth the risk. In 2013 I had a 15 game flex pack and had enough trouble trying to sell those tickets. And those were mostly weekend games, I cant imagine trying to unload weekdays in August and September if the team falters next year
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 The reason I am looking to do the full season is that I think I could make a bunch of money. E.g. if I had bought seats in section 114 first 10 rows this year ($41 cost for season ticket holders) those puppies are selling for triple face value on stubhub the entire month of September. And I really can't see taking a bath on those seats even midweek early season games they still sell for season ticket face cost, which is less than regular face.

TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 Well fellas, I purchased 2 season tickets for section 221 row 5 today for next year. Great seats one section over from TD Comfort Zone. Expensive but they I should be able to sell them next year for what I paid for them or more. And then I was allowed to purchase 2 more seats for the playoffs. Right behind home plate, section 525 row 7. I also have 2 tickets for Section 239 LF foul pole. BTW I could have bought playoff seats in section 124 if I wanted...the guy I talked to on the phone said there were seats left in every price range. I just didn't want to commit to that much money.

LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Yeah, you have a much better chance of making a profit with playoff tickets compared to regular season

Man I really hope the Jays continue to bring in big attendance next year for you. Season tickets for leafs are an unbeatable investment, selling up to 76 games of Jays tickets x 2 seats sounds like a lot of work and stress. Good news is those are desirable seats, 2nd deck first 5 rows are my favourite between either base. Good luck!

But I would have thought you could get Row 1 and 2 at the most, since season ticket holders get first dibs - especially being the first day and all.
SoftHands Verified Member Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Hey guys, just gave in and bought 2016 seasons in 522 row 5 and playoff tickets 512 row 2 (still considered outfield so got the lowest price.) Love the playoff tickets I got considering the price and my budget but I'll probably only go to a dozen games next year. How hard will it be to sell 522 row 5? They are almost behind home plate but I'm worried about those mid week games against crappy opponents, could I still sell them for $10?

If the Jays somehow only draw only sub 30k routinely next year then you'll have trouble. If the Jays coast into the playoffs I'm sure you'll be able to sell for at least $15, maybe $20-25

SoftHands Verified Member Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Sorry I am new here. Maybe I should have gone with "strong lower half"
Governator Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Sorry I am new here. Maybe I should have gone with "strong lower half" You reached back for a little something extra on that suggestion.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I wonder how many extra season seat they sold today. My guess is around 3-5k. Next season STH base should be the strongest since 94.

Yes but as of right now all of the seats in front are already held by season ticket holders and they get first crack at renewing their seats come end of season. I can potentially move up into the first couple rows in January after some people either don't renew or move to a different section.

I think you will be able to get $10-12 for most mid week games since you are in row 5. that will cover your cost. Might be a few midweek games against dogs where they don't get picked up. But you'd likely make double your money vs Red Sox and Yankees. If the Jays are as good next year as they are this year then you will make a killing in August/September. And if the Jays win the World Series this year? You'll make a killing all season likely!
TilsonBritoFan Verified Member Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 Guys the reason I went with 221 instead of 500 level is that even in s***** games like Monday night vs Tampa they will likely sell for the season ticket face value. I am actually going to call back in January and try to upgrade to TD Comfort Zone seating (1 section over). In January this year's season ticket holders who don't renew will see the release of their seats and there will be more available likely. Its $750 more per seat but those puppies are usually sold out all season, so the stubhub market is very good for them. I figure with my 4 playoff tickets I have, if the Jays make the World Series and it goes 7 games I might make $10,000 in profit. I might make a furthur $5,000 in profit next year (my season tickets are $56 face value - if Jays make it to WS and field a competitive team next year I should be able to average $80 a ticket for them all season - more for Yankees/Red Sox, less for the Rays, etc)

He'll make the money he's spent on the 2016 season tickets back this year in the playoffs. All of next year will be pure profit and it has the potential to be VERY lucrative. Hop on the train now fellas, it could be very worth your while.
AngieL Verified Member Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 I'm curious, how did this work out for you. Did you find you had a lot of tickets you couldn't sell in the 2016 season?
