ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 And now Warren is leaving the pen for the rotation because of a lack of depth. And also, Tex is looking like he will miss the rest of the season, and is even uncertain for the playoffs.. Looks like the beginning of the end for them, but every time it looks like that they keep winning.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 So basically, based on my last message, all the Yanks have in their bullpen that Girardi trusts are Shreve (rarely), Wilson, Betances and Miller. The umpteen million bullpen arms the Yanks have right now basically are used in mop up duty. Basically, 4 relievers and a bunch of mop-up men, including Capuano.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Yankees only have the best BP in the majors. Derp. You're wrong by a lot. Kansas City has that honor. Yanks pen is 10th, behind Toronto, plus the Yankees bullpen is 3rd most overused, behind KC and TB.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 WAR - 1st Projected WAR - 1st And BTW, Yanks pen is 4th in WAR in the AL, as Wilson/Betances/Miller and sometimes Shreve offset the weakness in the rest of it, especially long and middle relief, which has seen a ton of pitchers used.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 No they have a dominant pen and good starting pitching. 6th in SP WAR. It's actually similar to Toronto's. And with Eovaldi out, it stands to take a major hit. And that pen isn't completely dominant.. it's thin outside of Wilson/Betances/Miller.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 This is not rocket science dude. 1st in majors: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=rel&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2015&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=18,d Only because the Yanks SP staff struggles to go deep in games, and Girardi frequently goes to Wilson/Betances/Miller. They actually moved Warren to the bullpen for a while because of the lack of depth, which they now have to reverse due to the Eovaldi injury, limits on Severino, and Sabathia's unreliability.
