Personally, Devon Travis is making the league minimum, which is more than enough to pay for a Ted Baker suit. Also, Snet doesn't need to pay for the suit, but I'm also pretty surprised gotstyle didn't cover the costs either. You get free advertising from MLB players, anyway

Who f***ing cares, plus good for Bautista manning up for his teammate.

To be honest I haven't really noticed

He hasn't given 1:1 interviews but he has commented post-game, where all the networks interview him, so you can't really tell.

But yeah, there hasn't been a Bautista feature in awhile.

Agreed. Regardless of how much Travis makes if Sportsnet wants to do a contrived bit of manufactured candour about Travis buying a suit (that presumedly he wasn't even planning to buy) than they should front the cost.

I like two things about this:

1) Joey Bats sticking up for a teammate

2) He has kept quiet about it and has protested quietly without making a spectacle of it

A media conglomerate refuses to pay for the suit, it's a laughing stock.

I'm trying to understand why Sportsnet needs to pay for Travis' suit? If I was going to be interviewed by a news station let's say, I don't think they'd buy me new clothes to wear.

I really don't care one way or the other... I'm just kind of curious about why this seems to be an issue. Am I missing something?

Edit: I shouldv'e read the article before posting. Got it now.

Ya... I think Sportsnet should pay... As much as, ya he makes $507k and he can afford it... It's the principle behind it.

You didn't read the article, did you? It wasn't a suit for an interview, it was "hey Travis, come suit shopping with us, it'll kill time and probably won't cost us much to produce the segment, since we're not paying for the suit!"

He wasn't wearing the suit for an interview. They made him buy a suit as part of a segment. A "let's tag along as Travis buys a suit" bit. Except that for all we know, Travis already has all the suits he needs/wants. They should have fronted the cost for their silly bit.

Right or wrong its always good to see veteran players backing rookies. Does Travis have the money for an $800 suit.... Yes.... Should he have to buy a suit just for a stupid tag a long segment.... No....

Whatever Jose has not made a big public deal out of it, while standing up for guys in the clubhouse. I like it.

I'm just surprised this has gone on this long without either side just giving in (should be sportsnet). This is not something worth souring a relationship over.

Dirty move by Sportsnet. If a player is doing a spot for a different organization and you take him there for an interview, you have to reimburse him for the clothes.

Bautista is not a rookie and if he was treated like this he would freak. Good on him.

After taxes and paying all sorts of fees, I don't think Travis should be paying for $3,000 suits just because. They should pay for it and good for Bautista

Would Gotstyle have even paid Sportsnet a little cash to be the shop featured on the show? Or did they actually really get free publicity? If anything they should have comped the suit, and even give him a little parting gift.

I am pretty sure GotStyle is a sponsor.... After every sportsnet segment you hear.... Broadcasters clothing provided by: GotStyle

Well if the broadcaster's clothing is covered why shouldn't Travis'.

I feel both Sportsnet and Gotstyle should be held responsible.

Yes, thank you. They are a featured sponsor and get mentioned all the time, it's pretty tacky that they didn't comp the suit.

But here's an idea, why doesn't he just return the suit?

Not the point. Bautista believes they seeked Travis out, so in principal they should pay for it.
