KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 DFAing Loup was the better choice You only have to DFA someone if they are out of MiLB options as was the case with Valencia. Loup has options.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Is it a coincidence this happens before a Dickey start? I figure the corresponding move is Thole getting called up.

Rajais Mitten Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I wouldn't mind at all if martin takes the next 4 days off and give him some real rest, there really isn't a better time with having Monday and Thursday off and the mini series with the Phillies
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Gross Meh. It's two weeks before September callups anyways. No big deal.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Who is our backup catcher if Navarro plays every day? Thole is hurt and Jimenez is recovering from surgery yes? Would we essentially have to have Martin on standby as the backup?

Would we essentially have to have Martin on standby as the backup? Of course I kid, I kid. Although if we are in a total emergency situation where every conventional option at C somehow went down, there we go, we do have a last resort option... Funny thing is earlier on we did have both Martin and Navarro playing at the same time with one of them DH'ing quite a few times this year... so clearly they haven't really been worried about losing the DH spot should one of them go down...

Can't give Martin all that time off unless someone is available to catch Dickey.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 One Chris Heisey please. Then when Travis is healthy (if before September or if we make the playoffs) one less Chris Colabello please.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Yes, a 4th first baseman is exactly what the team needs.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Well that makes about as much sense as a third ear.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Thole is hurt Thole is back is he not?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Well that makes about as much sense as a third ear. I would love a third ear. Would be really helpful as the 2nd one has never worked.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 He's back he was in the lineup the other day.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Meh. It's two weeks before September callups anyways. No big deal. You want him on the playoff roster
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Yes, a 4th first baseman is exactly what the team needs. A good team needs to have at least 5-6 first basemen
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Wut? Valencia is clearly > Collabello. Valencia > Colabello Colabello > Valencia Honestly...there isn't much of a difference between the two. Valencia gives you more defensive flexibility and hit lefties well. Colabello is terrible defensively but has a more potent bat. Both have the strengths...both have their warts. If this move is the difference between the Jays winning and losing then they have bigger problems. As much as I appreciate Colla's hitting overall I think its a stretch based on his PAs only in this season to conclude that he "has a more potent bat". The sample size is too small. With the Jays small bad moves cumulatively add up to larger issues.

He's not a major league calibre player.
Nafro Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Josh Thole call up to catch "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" please.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I don't understand calling up Hague at all.he probably won't even play
oakville69 Verified Member Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Wow, if only they had the opportunity to option Loup and keep Valencia. Oh wait, they did. Agreed. I never understood why the Jays got rid of Valencia. He was a very useful player especially if Donaldson got hurt.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 He's back he was in the lineup the other day. K. Good. Let him have a few games. Sorry I missed.

How well does Navarro catch Dickey?
