But in the fifth inning up 6 runs...the pitcher has to overcome an error like that..

He had an excellent 1st half at the plate and he hits LHP pretty well but lets not get carried away. Hid D liabilities outweigh his upside at the dish inning 1-6

Agreed, but as someone pointed out, Gibbons is just weirdly loyal to certain players, and I'm really f***ing sick of it. Field your best lineup every game. I don't care about the hurt feelings of these grown men.

He didn't mean literally replace Cola with Thole. Just a roster move so Thole can catch Dickey and have Smoak play 1B.

Smoak is inarguably a more valuable player. Cola had a hot streak, and that's awesome, but he's cooled off, and his D is just painful.

 

fWAR is 0.0 v 0.4 and Cola's had ~70 more PA's than Smoak has.
