Spoonovic Verified Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/inside-the-48-hours-that-transformed-the-blue-jays/ Great article summarizing the 48 hours that changed the 2015 Blue Jays. The article also states that AA was going after Zobrist, Parra and Leake.

Hipfan Verified Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Awesome article, I wonder who the fall back pitcher was that he had as a backup plan?
kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It's kind of interesting how people cope differently with lack of sleep. I was awake for about 100 hours straight last summer finishing my thesis, and after about 24 hours awake, I started to really feel it, but the worst was around 50 hours awake. Once I got to about 60-70 hours awake, I no longer felt any more tired than before. It was like I'd hit a plateau. And then I slept for 24 hours.

kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Sounds like Leake? It had to be a pitcher other than Leake. If the Leake deal was completed, the Blue Jays likely wouldn’t have had the prospects left to compete for Price. But Anthopoulos knew there would be several teams interested in the Tigers ace and there was no guarantee Anthopoulos would land him. Plus, he had a fallback plan; another starter he knew could be his on July 31—a deal was already agreed upon—if everything else fell through.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Weren't Jays also linked to Padres pitchers, Ross and Cashner?

Did the same, but mine was closer to 6 days straight because my computer paperweighted itself with a week left to go. Nothing but the occasional coffee to keep me going.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 That was a great read. It goes to show how much work he puts in trying to get things done. I read between the lines that in the past he has had a few deals he thought were done fall through and was left with a sour taste for not pursuing other deals congruently. I can't agree with all of the deals he has made but at least you know it is not through lack of trying....amirite?
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I am sure there were more bodies out there. He was likely kicking tires on everyone, or at least he should have been.
5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Would have been amazing if they could have gotten Zobrist
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Wow so AA was going hard after Leake + another pitcher, but he ended up getting Price instead. AA wanted to finish the Leake trade but Reds' GM wanted to wait ok more offers, and AA ended up pulling the trigger on Price instead. Great article
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Great, just great. Zobrist f*** us with two dingers for not trade for him.
